Russia's strike campaign against Ukrainian energy infrastructure has begun.

Overnight, Russia launched at least 18 Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles and Oniks supersonic cruise missiles at Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast, striking the CHP-5, CHP-6, and Trypillya Thermal Power Plants. Large fires broke out following the strikes.

Additionally, numerous Geran-4 and Geran-5 jet-drones were used to attack energy infrastructure, including the aforementioned power plants, as well as other targets across Kyiv.

Regarding this "surprising" geolocation of Ukrainian soldiers active in the village of Shevchenko, Komar direction.

As I have been reporting for some time, Ukrainian forces have been fighting on the outskirts of Shevchenko since late-July - over 2 months ago. They have suffered heavy casualties while trying to cross the multi-layered defensive line north of the village to gain a foothold.

Due to these attacks bringing little success, and their temporary deployment points getting destroyed by Russian KAB glide-bombs, Ukrainian forces opted instead for attacking the village from the northwest around three weeks ago, infiltrating from newly captured positions in the Maliivka area and entering the northwestern part of Shevchenko. These attacks proved much more successful, with them eventually gaining a foothold in the village around two weeks ago.

Since then, Ukrainian forces have been advancing south and east of the village towards Vilne Pole, Vesele, and Burlatske, where heavy fighting is currently ongoing. They are also working to clear the remaining Russian positions in the eastern streets of Shevchenko.

This geolocation does not represent a sudden 6 km breakthrough by Ukrainian forces. In reality, fighting for this sector has been ongoing since June, with Ukrainian forces making slow, costly gains. This has all been shrouded in OPSEC by the Ukrainian command, both for genuine OPSEC purposes, and also to create the illusion of quick and easy success once these advances are eventually officially revealed.

Russians are going around messaging Ukrainian/pro-Ukrainian channels impersonating as Ukrainian soldiers posing outside recaptured villages in the Lyman direction, and sending "exclusive" videos for them to post.

In reality, this is a Russian informational warfare campaign aimed at discrediting the Ukrainian counteroffensive. The soldiers shown are AI-generated, based on obituaries of previously killed Ukrainian soldiers.

I was sent one of these videos a few days ago, but luckily I, unlike some channels, don't post everything they get sent with the hopes of being "first" and getting lots of views. Some channels fell for this bait and posted the video claiming it was "exclusive, sent from our sources on the ground".

This was a good litmus test to see which channels actually check to see if their "information from the ground" is accurate, and which ones don't bother and just blindly post it with the hopes of getting lot's of views.

NASA FIRMS data indicates that large fires broke out at the Kyiv CHP-5 Combined Heat and Power Plant, the Trypillya Thermal Power Plant, and the Kyiv Hydroelectric Power Plant, following last night's combined Russian missile and drone attack.

Oniks supersonic cruise missiles and Zircon hypersonic cruise missiles struck the Trypillya TPP.

Kn-23 ballistic missiles and Oniks missiles struck the CHP-5 power plant.

Iskander-M ballistic missiles and RM-48U S-400 ballistic missiles struck the Kyiv HPP.

A large number of Geran-4 and Geran-5 jet-drones were also used.
