The IDF claims to have killed Muhammad Yazouri, the commander of Hamas' "Khan Younis Brigade", in a recent targeted assassination strike on the city of Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip.
As commander of the Khan Younis Brigade, Muhammad Yazouri was one of the highest-ranking commanders in Hamas, and responsible for commanding one of the 5 Hamas brigades in the Gaza Strip, covering the city of Khan Younis and surrounding towns. Prior to being appointed to his positions, Muhammad Yazouri allegedly served as deputy commander of the brigade, as well as commander of the brigade's support battalion and head of the brigade's intelligence department.
The IDF also claims that Hudheifa Muammar - a company commander in an unspecified battalion of the Khan Younis Brigade was killed. They claimed that both men were working to "advance dozens of attacks against IDF troops and sought to rebuild the brigadeโs force buildup, which had suffered significant damage throughout the war".
