A Russian Geran-4 jet-drone impacted a plane at Zhulanyi Airport in Kyiv today, resulting in a large fire breaking out.

According to my information, the strike occurred on the western side of the airport (in the area marked on the map), impacting one of the aircraft sitting there. Zhulanyi Airport has not been in operation for civilian purposes since the beginning of the war.

De facto U.S. envoy to Putin Steve Witcoff and U.S. Special Envoy for Peace Jared Kushner are set to arrive in in Kyiv via plane on Saturday, landing at Boryspil Airport just east of the city, which would mark the first flight into Ukraine by a foreign official since the beginning of the war.

It's possible that this is a signalling strike by Russia ahead of this unprecedented flight into Ukraine. The presence of American officials in Kyiv would also likely disrupt Russia's ongoing large-scale strike campaign against Kyiv.

During an attack on an ATB warehouse in Odesa today, a Russian Geran-4 jet-drone briefly entered the airspace of Transnistria (Moldova).

The drone flew through their airspace for about 4 km, penetrating 1.5 km beyond the international border at one point, before re-entering Odesa Oblast and impacting the warehouse facility.

The drone was equipped with a camera and was remotely controlled by a drone operator. Russian channels will likely post a video of the strike in the near future (probably without the Moldova part lol).

The approximate flight path of the drone is shown on the attached map.

War ๐Ÿช– seen from space ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ/๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ

By comparing satellite images from August 2026 with those from August 2021, we observe the destruction of vast cultivated areas between the Belarusian border and the Black Sea.

The front line of this war in Ukraine is visible from space, as is the destruction it has caused to forests and fields, at least 40,000 kmยฒ of which are currently uncultivated. It is also worth noting the increased drought in Crimea and the occupied territories, caused by a lack of water for crop irrigation.

The Saraya Al-Quds Brigades (armed wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad) announced that a group of militants from an Israeli-backed Palestinian armed group attempted to capture a fighter from the "Al-Qarara Battalion" (subordinated to the PIJ's "Khan Younis Brigade") in the early hours of this morning.

The militants, likely part of the small Popular Forces-affiliated armed group known as the "Free Homeland Forces", reportedly advanced into the PIJ-held territory in the ruins of Al-Qarara under the cover of Israeli drones.

Palestinian fighters from the Saraya Al-Quds Brigades detected the infiltration force during the kidnapping operation, and fought back with small-arms fire and grenades, reportedly killing and wounding part of the force. The militants were apparently unsuccessful in capturing the PIJ fighter, prompting them to execute him on scene and withdraw alongside their own casualties under the cover of Israeli drone strikes.

Overnight, Russia launched 8 ballistic missiles at the city of Kamianske, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, despite reports of a "ceasefire" being implemented by SBU-affiliated Ukrainian channels.

4 Kn-23 ballistic missiles launched from near Liski, Voronezh Oblast; and 4 Iskander-M ballistic missiles launched from near Taganrog, Rostov Oblast were used in the attack. The main target was seemingly the Dnipro metallurgical plant in Kamianske, where large fires broke out after the strikes.

Several hours ago, two posts were made by the Ukrainian SBU-affiliated channel Nikolaevsky Vanek stating that a 72-hour ceasefire had been ordered, starting from midnight on September 5.

He claimed that it had been suddenly ordered in connection with the visit of (de facto) U.S. envoy to Putin Steve Witcoff and U.S. Special Envoy for Peace Jared Kushner to Kyiv on Sunday, who were set to arrive via plane to Boryspil Airport (which would mark the first flight into Ukraine by a foreign official since the beginning of the war).

However, in the hours after these posts, Russia continued launches of Geran-2 drone and Geran-4 jet-drones into Ukrainian airspace, and then carried out a large-scale attack on the city of Kamianske in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast using 8 ballistic missiles. Additionally, reports from other channels indicated that individual Ukrainian units had not received any such orders.

It's not known if an actual order was given or not. It's possible Vanek (who is one of the largest and most influential Telegram channels in Ukraine, probably only second to Trukha), was told to lie and say this to try paint the Russians as unwilling to negotiate, after the GUR received information from western intelligence that Russia intended to launch a ballistic missile attack on Kamianske today. This would make sense considering no other media outlets had reported on this ceasefire before Vanek, and Ukrainian military channels did not report receiving any orders to cease fire.

However, it's also possible that there was indeed a ceasefire order given due to the presence of U.S. envoys in Ukraine, but that Russia chose not to abide by it and continue with their pre-planned attacks as a message that they would accept U.S. officials entering Ukraine by air. This would also make sense, considering Russia carried out drone attacks on a stationary aircraft at Zhulanyi Airport in Kyiv and the office of Oleksandr Poklad, the acting head of the SBU, presumably for signalling purposes.

As of now, this remains an extremely strange situation, with no clear answer.

The Ukrainian Air Force released their claimed figures for how many glide-bomb strikes they carried out on Russian positions during August.

According to them, approximately 300 sorties were carried out by the Ukrainian Air Force - an average of 9.7 per day (unchanged from their July claims). Because this is an official report, this is the maximum number possible. The true number will likely actually be lower as they have an incentive to lie.

In comparison, Russia launched over 8,673 glide-bombs in August (up from 8,300 in July), with an average of ~280 per day (up from 268 in July) (as per the Ukrainian General Staff). The true number is likely slightly higher as this is also an official claim with an incentive to lie.

If we were to make a rough estimate of 2 glide-bombs per Ukrainian sortie, then it would give us an airstrike ratio of around 14.4:1 in favour of Russia (up from 14:1 in July). This has a large margin of error due to Ukraine's incentive to lie, and because Ukraine's numbers include sorties while Russia's include individual munitions.

The Russian Ministry of Defence issued a statement regarding their overnight missile and drone attacks on Ukraine.

In Dnipropetrovsk oblast, they announced striking the Kametstal Metallurgical Plant in the city of Kamianske, which they allege is used to supply metal products for Ukraine's military-industrial complex.

In Mykolaiv Oblast, the Russian MoD claims to have struck a logistics centre used for store military equipment, as well as the "Mykolaivska" 330 kV electrical substation.

In Odesa Oblast, they claim to have struck a logistics centre in the town of Dachne used to store military equipment, as well as a dry cargo ship at Chornomorsk Port allegedly transporting weapons and other military equipment.

In Kyiv Oblast, the MoD claims that strikes targeted the "Svyatopetrivsky" logistics centre, which they allege stored military equipment; two fuel storage and distribution sites in Blystavytsya and at Hostomel Airport; as well as a radio and electronic intelligence centre in the city of Brovary.
