Russia intends to launch another large-scale, combined missile and drone attack on Ukraine in the coming days. Here's what is known about their strike plans so far.
What could be used:
- Kh-101 cruise missiles from 4-6 Tu-95MS strategic bombers from Olenya Airbase and possibly Engels-2 Airbase. Russia likely still needs to equip 2-3 of these bombers at Engels-2 Airbase with missiles, after which they may redeploy to Olenya Airbase.
- Kh-101 cruise missiles from 2-3 Tu-160M strategic bombers from Ukrainka Airbase. It is unknown if they are equipped with missiles yet, but they will be soon if they haven't already.
- Kinzhal hypersonic aeroballistic missiles from 2-6 MiG-31K fighters at Savasleika Airbase, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. At least two of these aircraft are already equipped with missiles.
- Kh-22/32 cruise missiles launched from 3-6 Tu-22m3 strategic bombers from Olenya Airbase. At least 2 of these aircraft have been equipped with missiles for at least the last month. More may have been equipped since then.
- Up to 16 Kalibr cruise missiles launched from two ships at Novorossiysk Naval Base, Krasnodar Krai. These ships were recently re-equipped with missiles following the most recent massive missile attack.
- Iskander-M ballistic missiles from Bryansk, Kursk, Voronezh, and Rostov Oblasts. New deliveries of missiles have been made to OTRK installations in these locations, however the number expected to be used is unknown as of now.
- 1-3 Zircon hypersonic cruise missiles launched from near Manturovo, Kursk Oblast. This is a new launch site that was used for the first time in the most recent massive missile attack, and has recently received new deliveries of missiles.
- Up to 8 Iskander-K cruise missiles from Kursk Oblast. New deliveries of missiles to launch positions here (presumably in northern Kursk Oblast) were made recently.
- Hundreds of Geran-2, Geran-3, and Gerbera drones from several different launch sites surrounding Ukraine.
Not all of the weapons used above will be used - this is just what there is information on so far. The missiles with the highest probability of use are Kh-101s, Iskander-Ks, Kalibrs, and Iskander-Ms.
The highest threat is to Kyiv, especially the military industrial complex and decision-making centres across the city. The highest threat is for the next 3 days, specifically between 12am and 7am, but there is also a possibility that the attack takes place this weekend instead.
