Correction: This was an R-37/77 air-to-air missile (launched by a Su-35) targeting a Ukrainian fighter jet. The explosion heard was either from the missile self-destructing or a Ukrainian aircraft being shot down.

โšก๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ NYT: Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has been positioning his son, Yasser, for a senior leadership role in the Fatah party.

The move comes as the 90โ€‘yearโ€‘old leader faces growing international pressure for political reforms and as many Palestinians yearn for new leadership.

Yasser Abbas, 64, has sought a seat on Fatahโ€™s Central Committee, and has taken on a more public role as an envoy to Lebanon.

Some senior Fatah officials have privately opposed the move but fear retribution. Analysts say the push undermines efforts to rebrand Fatah as a viable political alternative to Hamas.

Russian source Fighterbomber claims that the Russian interception attempt by a Su-35 against a Ukrainian F-16 using an R-37/77 air-to-air missile that I reported on earlier today was likely successful.

Next time people claim I am fabricating reports on Russia/Ukrainian interception attempts against aircraft for propaganda purposes, you can send them this.
