Situation in southern Lebanon as of May 9, 2026 - Eastern sector:

Israeli forces continued their clearing operations in Khiam and are coming closer to establishing full control over the city.

The IDF entered the northeastern and northwestern streets of the city and are carrying out new demolitions of residential buildings in both areas. They also reached the northern outskirts and are demolishing buildings there too.

Situation in southern Lebanon as of May 9, 2026 - Central Sector:

The IDF has intensified their ground operations in and around Bint Jbeil, as well as areas further east, slowly clearing the territory up to the Yellow Line.

In the northeast, Israeli forces resumed clearing operations in Qalaat Debba, capturing most of the rest of the village and improved their positions in the western part of Houla. They also captured the northwestern outskirts of Meiss El Jabal.

To the south, the IDF advanced further in the southern part of Meiss El Jabal, where they are carrying out extensive demolitions in residential areas. They also entered the main part of Blida and quickly established full control over the town, where additional demolitions are now taking place.

To the west, Israeli forces cleared the last remaining streets of Bint Jbeil, officially establishing full control over the city and the neighbouring town of Aainata. From there, they advanced north up the highway and entered the nearby town of Kounine, where they entrenched in the central, southern, southwestern and eastern streets, linking up with forces operating in Tayri. Heavy demolitions are taking place in all of these settlements, while Bint Jbeil has now been effectively flattened.

Russia-Ukraine ceasefire:

- Russian MLRS targeted frontline areas near Slovyansk (Donetsk Oblast) and border regions of Kharkiv Oblast.

- 16+ Geran-2/Gerbera drones are detected in Ukrainian airspace, flying near Slovyansk, Oleksandrivka (Donetsk Oblast), Barvinkove (Kharkiv Oblast), and Balakliya (Kharkiv Oblast).

- Russian reconnaissance drones are operating in northeastern Kharkiv Oblast.

- Ukrainian drones were detected south of Zaporizhzhia City.

- Ukrainian drones were detected north of Donetsk City and near Yenakijeve (Donetsk Oblast). Russian air defence was active in Yenakijeve.

2 new Russian Geran-2/Gerbera drones entered Donetsk Oblast, flying past the frontline near Bilytske. There are now at least 18 detected in Ukrainian airspace.

Additionally, a reconnaissance drone is operating near the city centre of Kramatorsk.

An Israeli drone strike on a Hamas security checkpoint in the Al-Maghazi Refugee Camp in the central Gaza Strip has killed at least 3 Palestinians and wounded multiple others.

Situation in southern Lebanon as of May 9, 2026 - Western Sector:

The IDF has intensified their ground operations in southwestern Lebanon, making new progress in three different areas.

In the northwest, Israeli forces cleared the remaining part of Chamaa while other forces captured the two hills south of the village.

To the east, the IDF cleared the eastern outskirts of Tayr Harfa and advanced east, capturing the neighbouring village of Jebbayn, thereby linking up with forces operating in Yarine and Oum Touteh. From there, they pushed further east down the road to Chihine and the fields to the east in the direction of Salhaneh, where demolitions are now ongoing.

To the south, Israeli forces crossed the international border from Arav Al-Aramsha, capturing the southern ruins of Dhayra opposite the border, and clearing the hills in the pocket to the east.

In my opinion, most/all of these Russian drones are Gerbera decoy drones. They are flying very erratically and constantly disappearing from radars.

For the first time ever, Hezbollah released footage showing two fibre-optic FPV drone strikes on an Israeli Iron Dome battery and its crew in northern Israel.

If I were Hezbollah, I would focus on targeting these batteries as much as possible to try force them south, allowing for their rockets and drones to impact border areas at a much higher rate.

With the ends of the 3-day ceasefire in Ukraine, fighting has now resumed at full intensity. Launches of KAB glide-bombs and heavy shelling has resumed, while launches of Geran-2 drones from several locations has been recorded.

Additionally, preparations for another large-scale, combined Russian missile and drone attack on Ukraine involving strategic bombers and other missiles were observed around five days ago, and are being finalised now. More info on that later.

Possible Iskander-M launch from Kursk Oblast

No missiles are detected in Ukrainian airspace.

There is a large-scale Russian Geran-2 drone attack on Ukraine ongoing right now. More than 60 Geran-2/Gerbera drones are detected in Ukrainian airspace, most of which are flying to Kyiv Oblast.

Drones have so far attacked targets in/near Dnipro, Kyiv, and Kharkiv Oblast.

A couple of minutes ago, during an ongoing mass-bombing raid on Ukrainian positions in the Komyshuvakha direction, a Russian KAB glide-bomb failed in flight and fell in/near the town of Mykhailivka, Russian-controlled Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

It is currently unclear if it impacted a residential area with civilians.

Regarding the upcoming combined Russian missile and drone attack on Ukraine:

Preparations for this attack were noted 5-6 days ago, which are being finalised now. Currently, all signs are pointing towards an attack tomorrow night or the night after, although this is not a fixed prediction.

4-7 Tu-95MS strategic bombers, 2-3 Tu-160M strategic bombers, and Iskander-M ballistic missiles will be used. There is also a possibility of Kalibr cruise missiles being launched from the Black Sea Fleet. Hundreds of Geran-2 drones will also be used.

The highest threat is to Western Ukraine from the Kh-101 cruise missiles, and to central Ukraine from the Iskander-M ballistic missiles. Kyiv was also mentioned as a possible target a few days ago, however that may have been in relation to an attack not involving Kh-101 cruise missiles.

There is a possibility that this attack is conducted in two parts across one day, with Geran-2 drones and ballistic missiles being used between 12am and 5am, while Kh-101 cruise missiles and Kalibrs are used any time after 8am.

Hezbollah released footage showing rocket launches towards IDF positions in Al-Bayada, southern Lebanon.

Al-Bayada continues to be the main target for Hezbollah rocket and drone attacks.

Notably, Hezbollah drone operators are getting more and more accurate with their strikes. Some of the first videos showed missed hits, however almost all of the new ones show impacts, including on moving targets (soldiers).
