Fox News reports that the second F-15E crew member (a Weapons System officer) who ejected from the downed fighter jet hiked away from the crash site and hid from Iranian soldiers on an elevated ridge to evade capture. He put out an emergency beacon for U.S. Special Operations pararescue-men and other elite rescue forces, who located the crew and fended off Iranian soldiers. Fox stated that no US soldiers were killed during the operation.

Furthermore, Fox News reported that the A-10 Warthog attack aircraft that crashed on Friday was providing cover for rescue teams involved in locating the first crew member (the pilot), with the A-10 pilot successfully ejecting over Kuwait, before being rescued. They also reported that two rescue helicopters were hit by Iranian fire during the rescue operation on Friday, injuring crewmembers, before allegedly managing to make it out of Iran.

Trump issued a statement regarding the rescue operation. According to him, the operation involved dozens of aircraft, and that the F-15E weapons system operator sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Trump also stated that the F-15E pilot was rescued yesterday, claiming that no U.S. forces were injured - contradicting Fox News' report that the crew of a downed A-10 Warthog attack aircraft providing fire cover for the rescue operation sustained injuries.

The New York Times reports that following the rescue of the F-15E weapons officer, the two transport aircraft (presumably C-130s) used to transport the personnel out of Iran "got stuck" after they landed in Iran.

It was reportedly decided to bring 3 new aircraft to carry out the extractions, and blow up the 2 which got stuck to prevent them from being captured by Iranian forces.

Claimed to be an image of a burning C-130 military transport aircraft after it was blown up by US forces in Iran.
Here's an image reportedly of the C-130 before it got blown up.

The different lighting in these two images suggests that they are real.

Sunrise in Iran is at 5:49am, which was just over 2 hours ago. The second image shows the C-130 burning with the sun fully up, which is in largely line with the timing of Al Jazeera's reports on the rescue operation.

The IRGC has now issued a statement claiming that they were the ones who destroyed the U.S. C-130, south of Isfahan, contradicting the New York Time's claim that US forces blew them up to prevent the aircraft from falling into Iranian hands.

Hezbollah claims that they struck an Israeli Navy ship 68 nautical miles off the coast of Lebanon with an anti-ship cruise missile. According to them, the ship is now burning.

This remains unconfirmed, and Israeli media is denying the event.

โš ๏ธ Update: #Iran's internet blackout is now the longest nation-scale internet shutdown on record in any country, exceeding all other comparable incidents in severity having entered its 37th consecutive day after 864 hours.

How does this compare to other countries and regions in digital darkness?

Iran is the first country to have had internet connectivity and then subsequently lost it by reverting to a national network, while others such as North Korea have skipped the connected phase and been internationally isolated for longer.

Intermittent digital shutdown incidents such as Myanmar, and those experiencing restoration after several weeks like Sudan, and sub-national incidents like Kashmir and Tigray have also been recorded over a longer period.

Wartime damage to infrastructure in countries at war like Ukraine and Gaza has also resulted in extended reductions in connectivity due to damaged infrastructure, resulting in an observable reduction in users though no war is known to have sent an entire country offline.

โšก๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Based on the wreckage we can say that at least a HC-130J and an unknown helicopter were blown up by US SOF in Iran.

Four C-130 engines can be seen all in line suggesting they belonged to the same aircraft. The rotor of an helicopter can be seen nearby. Its unclear how many blades it has. Black Hawks have four blades. This one seems to have six although this could be due to the poor shape of the wreck.

In what was likely the most complex search and rescue operation, the US Air Force lost at least three aircrafts, likely four, to save the life of two stranded crew.

This is the second time US forces have blown up their C-130 and helicopter in the middle of Iran during a rescue attempt.
