German shipowner SAL Heavy Lift has confirmed that it will equip six of the heavy lift vessels in its fleet with ‘FS Marine+’ hydrogen/methanol injection solutions, following completion of an initial four year testing period🔥

The technology was developed by Germany company Fuelsave together with a number of partners including DNV GL, MAN Energy Solution and EcoTune Marine. The system combines a hydrogen synthesis gas generator and injector with water methanol injection, leading to increased combustion efficiency and reducing both fuel consumption (a reported 10-15%) and emissions (including 10% less CO2 and a 40% lower volume of particulates).
