Plugin 2.0 redefines node management, categorizing operators into three classes, increasing network stability and efficiency.

We introduce Validator Nodes, Pre-Processor nodes, and Standby Nodes - each playing a crucial role in the ecosystem.

•Validator Nodes set up the oracle jobs and provide data feed for end customers.
•Pre-Processor nodes will act as bridges and provide external adapter service to Validator nodes.
•Standby Nodes are existing staking nodes, and they are like standby warriors with minimum infrastructure which shall be upgraded to Validator nodes.

We're laying the groundwork for superior performance with Plugin 2.0.

From job table optimizations to automatic connectivity detection and gas cost reduction, we're redefining what efficiency means in blockchain.

Please find below the details.

•New config option, that caps the total number of saved completed runs per job: Optimizing the job table by archiving the completed old and errored runs and giving priority to the current jobs improving the overall performance of the oracle network.

•New NodePool.SelectionMode: Upgrading the node selection algorithm to pick the best node that can handle the job based on the capability of the node to handle difficulty and its recent activities in completing the tasks. This will create a competitive environment between the nodes since the most active nodes gets job allocation.

•Automatic connectivity detection: Introduction of new error indication parameter called "Critical" which will prevent the errored events from running and consuming the gas and let the user fix the connectivity issues before job processing.

•Reduced Gas Cost: EIP-1559 is now enabled by default. Enabling EIP-1559 mode can help reduce gas costs on chains that support it.

•EVM.NodePool.SyncThreshold: Plugin 2.0 will have a new parameter to ensure that live nodes do not lag too far behind. Sync Threshold controls how far a node may lag the best node before being marked out-of-sync.

•UI Enhancement: Now, node operators will know the reason for failure. Example – requestTimeout.

As part of the ongoing transition of #Plugin from version 1.0 to 2.0, Plugin governance committee after a thorough assessment has decided to discontinue Re-staking and Top-ups to the staking. Moving forward, the associated rewards will be directly distributed to the respective user wallets.

#Node #Operators are expected to un-stake both their initial staking and any subsequent "re-staking" before migration. Subsequently, operators are required to submit the upgraded node details on the platform.

This discontinuation of top-ups and re-staking is aimed at fortifying the community base and facilitating the identification of potential validators.

While we initially communicated 15th February as deadline for node operators to upgrade your #Plugin nodes to V2, we understand that this process may require more time and coordination than anticipated.

After careful consideration and in response to feedback from our community, we have decided to extend the timeline for nodes upgrade to version 2.0.

The new deadline for node operators to complete the upgrade is 23:59 GST of 18th February 2024. We encourage all node operators to take advantage of this extended timeframe to complete the upgrade process promptly.
