TOPIC II: IMPERIALISM

🟣 The world has its eyes on Palestine, still we talk too little about the roots of the problem.
🟣 Ceasefire Now is an important demand to stop the most terrible excesses of the slaughter. It will have to be followed by an Internationalist peoples movement to decolonize and democratize the Middle East.
From colonial occupation to national "independence". How has Imperialism successfully transformed itself into the neo-liberal age? How to keep using the resources, cheap labor and military access, even after colonisation has ended on paper?

There has also always been resistance, especially from the youth who are pressured into an economy which does not serve them.
In the Philippines our comrades from Anakbayan are representing the struggling youth.
ARTS & CULTURE RESISTANCE

Culture is one of the central arenas of political struggle! Insisting on our cultural identity is a self-defense against the capitalist system. In a world where all meaning is being uprooted, how can we have a sense of identity - while also insisting on radical change?
As an anticapitalist and anticolonial youth movement, we pull strength from knowing our roots. We defend the democratic values within our cultures against all attacks from the outside!
Our friend Rêz from Başûr, Kurdistan talked at the Youth Writing History conference about cultural genocide and why it is Jina not Mahsa Amini
What is the meaning of revolutionary culture?

What connects all the different liberation movements of this world? The guerillas that hide out in the forests and sneak into the homes of friendly villagers under the cover of the night. The youth that are marching through the streets, in a cascade of slogans, flags and energy that wants to change the world.

We talk in this conference a lot about the system that oppresses all of us, uncovering the connections of war and exploitation that span across the entire globe. But do we just have a common enemy? Is this the only reason to come together from all over the globe? There is more to our revolutionary youth identity!

Part of what defines us, is the knowledge of our history, of where we come from. We all come from specific places of meaning that have been passed down through the generations. This is part of our communities and our families... (1/2)

...But we don’t just have roots in the physical places we were born in. We are also the inheritance of a rich culture of youth resistance movements. From the slogans that were hurled together with stones and bottles through the Paris streets of May '68, to the songs of the Partisans that broke through the dark of fascism, to the murmurs about revolution, careful whispers clothed into tales and stories. We follow the traces of those that came before us. They have created beauty and meaning through their resistance!

This is ever more so essential as we live in times when we are confronted with most massive cultural genocide in history. Capitalism in its 500 years of existence has eradicated thousands of years of traditions.
As youth it is our task to fight back! Let's revive our traditions and local cultures. Let's share them and connect them with histories of resistance, creating a new internationalist revolutionary culture!
