Water tanker opposite plaza - go now if you need water
Dear resident.
I know that things are trying at present.
Myself and fellow Cllrs will be meeting with Joburg Water tomorrow morning to discuss the water issue in a number of wards.
I have asked for water tankers to be positioned in suburbs where there is no water.
JW has not given us accurate communication hence I will not be sharing their daily updates.

The cause: Lynden Reservoir is dry.
I will give you an update after the meeting tomorrow.
Please be on the lookout for any suspicious vehicles at City Power infrastructure.

Cllr N van Dyk
Ward 99

Good afternoon residents, please take note of the following bylaws in relation to swimming pools.

City Power has intensified efforts to upgrade customers using prepaid meters in the City of Johannesburg to ensure that they continue to function beyond 24 November 2024.

This week, starting from 18 March 2024 to 23 March 2024, our authorised teams will be visiting the following areas to conduct audits and reset pre-paid meters;

We appeal to customers to grant our teams access to their properties. The teams are easily identifiable, as they wear yellow City Power branded T-Shirt or bibs and have valid City Power ID cards with their photo, names, and surname.
Proposed tariff increases are as follows:
Rates: +4.8
Electricity: +11.3%
Water: +7.7%
Sewer: +7.7%
Pikitup: +5.9%
City Power Service & Capacity Charges: +16.74%.
Sewer Charges: Flats are now classed as multi-dwellings. Multi-dwellings under R700 000 value charged R314.68 per unit. Over R700 000 is R612.58 per unit.
Prepaid Electricity Changes are to be split into two categories:
Low Users (indigent customers): +6.36%
High Users (regular customers): +18.84%
High Users will also pay R244.2 Service Charge plus R237.3 Capacity Charge (both plus VAT)

Approx R553.73 a month increase (with VAT) for pre-paid customers plus 18.84% increase in electricity use

*Residents must ensure that they attend the public meetings when the venues are shared with councillors, we will also try our level best to ensure that these venues are as widely publicised as possible. Only by participating, and actively fighting back against these ridiculous increases, will we be able to defend ourselves against unreasonable rate increases.*
