Sh. Muhammad Ali Adam al-Ityubi رحمه الله said,
"Today, minds have drowned in materialistic thoughts and become captives of desires.
They do not see beyond material things, and they do not consider something beneficial unless it manifests in the form of money, food, drink, clothing, shelter, and pleasures.
Therefore, they do not see any benefit in pure acts of worship, and they do not feel that the greatest benefit on earth is to strengthen the relationship between the servant and his Lord, to establish a strong connection with Him, to repent and humble oneself before Allah, to break the desires seeking His pleasure, to taste the sweetness of intimate supplication, and to draw closer to Him."
