In the winter, however, the flows revert and the UK imports large amounts of gas from the continent, and shutting off interconnectors could backfire on London if prolonged shortages occur, the FT explains. So Britain is going to cut Europe from gas but, at peak times (winter) when the UK needs gas the most it's going to shoot itself in the foot.
