I love looking at German occupation pictures of Paris. As a resident of this city in the modern period, it fills me with a sense of what's possible; I get to experience both the best and the worst as I observe the untainted and idealized beauty of the past, while living through the ugliness and mud of our fallen present

If I lived at the time, I think I would have opposed said occupation, I prefer not to fool myself in that regard; the only reason I know which side of the coin to choose now at this time is because the internet. While a formidable propaganda machine, it equally is a formidable weapon against the enemy. It is a tool that both sides have access to. What a time to be alive, it seems it has never been so easy to know which side to pick, but at the same time, it had never been so easy to get trapped in the wrong place. Our era is that of the extremes.
