1) we would like to tell you about Climate Action Buddies and
2) ask whether you would be interested in joining or supporting us in this project.
But before getting ahead of ourselves, let us explain what Climate Action Buddies is. You might prefer to look at our beautiful infographic rather than read this email (makes sense and we wonโt be offended, so please go ahead, it has all the information you need).
In the face of the global ecological and climate crisis we need to mobilize on a global scale, and we need to do so together. A fractured movement will not be strong enough to counter the global forces of destruction and oppression. This is where Climate Action Buddies comes in. The concept is very straightforward: we are building a decentralised, global network to connect young people fighting for environmental and social justice (which can mean anything from protesting on the streets to managing community-forests) around the world to share knowledge, strengthen solidarity with each otherโs struggles, and build a global movement of people empowered to take action together.
We are aware that many networks connecting actors involved in environmental and climate action already exist, so what makes Climate Action Buddies different?
This decentralised network focuses on building connections between people, bringing individuals from different parts together to share their personal experiences. Everyone who decides to become a climate action buddy will be matched up with a fellow activist from another continent based on similar areas of engagement and language. So rather than connecting organizations, it functions on an individual level giving buddies the freedom to make use of their connections in the way they deem useful afterwards.
Nonetheless, the spread of Climate Action Buddies would be impossible without connecting to the many strong organisations and movements working every day to protect our planet, and to fight for a just system respecting everyoneโs human rights. Given your efforts in XR we would like to ask you whether you would like to help us building this network for global action and solidarity and become a local outreach partner.
