A Texas politician is in hospital fighting for her life after a knife attack at her home that left her husband dead.

Denton County Commissioner Bobbie Mitchell was stabbed in her Lewisville home during the early morning hours on Monday, while her husband Fred was killed in the same attack.

The couple's 23-year-old grandson, Mitchell Blake Reinacher, was shockingly arrested for the crime. 👀 He now faces murder and aggravated assault charges.

Officers rushed to the scene at the 1000 block of Springwood Drive just before 4am after receiving reports of an assault. When they arrived, they discovered both victims suffering from stab wounds, as reported by Fox4 News. The suspect was still at the property and was immediately taken into custody by Lewisville Police.

Commissioner Mitchell is currently listed as stable at a local hospital, though the exact details of her condition are unknown at this time. Her husband Fred was rushed to hospital but tragically died just after 5am.
