Today's Lesson: Finding Beauty in Brokenness - The Kintsugi Philosophy
Today was incredibly productive! I attended my class with full energy and even found some free time to finish my course on professional resilience from Udemy. It was truly eye-opening, focusing on how to be resilient in challenging professional environments.
A powerful lesson I learned was inspired by the traditional Japanese repair method known as kintsugi. In kintsugi, broken pottery๐ฏ pieces are mended with lacquer and adorned with gold or silver powder, transforming them into limited edition, unique and very valuable works of art. This practice teaches us that our โbreaksโ can enhance our worth, reminding us that imperfections and challenges can lead to greater beauty and strength.
We also explored the concept of "failing forward" and the importance of confronting our fears and failures, what I like to call the "2 Fs." It was a great experience, and I'm grateful to God for successfully completing the course and earning my certificate!๐ฅณ
Additionally, I dedicated time to my new MVP project, which needs focusing on state management using Riverpod. While it can be challenging, especially when the syntax and business logic become complex....Iโm enjoying the cool features it offers. I admit I sometimes feel like giving up, but pushing through with Godโs support has been rewarding.๐ฅ
Thank you all for being here, supporting my journey, and providing constructive feedback. It means a lot to me, and I'm truly thankful for your encouragement!๐

๐ Wisdom from the Professional Resilience Course ๐
I want to share some wisdom (lessons) from the course I completed yesterday on Professional Resilience by Maureen Falvey.
One story that truly stood out to me was about Kintsugi, Japanโs ancient art of repairing broken pottery with gold. Instead of hiding the cracks, this technique highlights them, turning flaws into beauty. Thatโs resilience. Thatโs life.
Here are some golden lessons I took away:
๐น WOOP Model (Wish, Outcome, Obstacles, Plan) โ This simple yet powerful framework helps transform dreams into actionable steps.
Wish: Identify what you truly want to achieve. This is your goal or aspiration.
Outcome: Visualize the best possible outcome of achieving this wish. What will success look like?
Obstacles: Acknowledge the internal and external barriers that may hinder your progress. This step is crucial for preparing for challenges.
Plan: Create a concrete plan to overcome the identified obstacles. This includes specific actions you'll take to move toward your goal.
๐น Failing Forward โ Embrace failure as a stepping stone. Fail early, fail smart, and keep moving. The aim isnโt to avoid mistakes but to learn and grow from them.
๐น Resilience in Perspective โ The pace of change will never again be as slow as it is today. Tomorrow will bring more challenges, so flexibility and adaptability must be non-negotiable.
๐น Mindset Blockers โ Often, itโs not external factors but internal ones that hold us back:
Our self-interpretations
Assumptions that the past dictates the present
Limiting beliefs we accept about ourselves
The victim mentality that drains our power
๐น Communication Matters โ A staggering 93% of conflict arises not from malice but from misunderstanding. This realization hit me hard.
At the end of the day, resilience isnโt just about bouncing back, itโs about bouncing forward. It involves owning our failures, learning from them, and emerging stronger in the process.
If you take away one thing from this, let it be this:
๐ก Donโt hide your cracks. Fill them with gold.

Today was such a great day, filled with unexpected surprises! By coincidence, I met jossy Yoseph_Won , an amazing and generous person from around the dorm. We planned to have lunch and grab some coffee, during which we talked about his journey into tech, his vision for the future of technology, and various project ideas.
I was truly inspired by his passion, problem-solving capabilities, and the insights he shared. Even though we attend the same campus and belong to the same faculty, we never had the time to discuss our experiences before.
We also played a checkers board game, and I was thoroughly beaten! I gave up when I was left with three lonely pieces, heโs really good at checkers! After that, we got haircuts, took a bunch of pictures (fun fact: heโs not just a developer; he also takes incredible photos! ), and enjoyed dinner while walking over 6,000 steps. I feel lucky to have such a generous friend from our community and the same compound.
I want to thank God for this amazing Saturday!

hello friends..today was such a great day....
after class finished one of the core features of my new MVP...
i am building it step by step on my free time๐ฅณ
learning many things ....pushing even if it is boring .....
yesterday i read a quote on my Instagram feed:
"you can beat 99% of ppl, if you can master the shame of rejection, the boredom of repetition and the pain of feedback " - Hormozi
Let's just keep going ๐ช

And the best possible way to end this generous day? By pushing the MVP, testing it on the emulator, and making the fan scream by opening the emulator and running the app Iโve been coding. Building it fast!
I want to thank God for this amazing Thursday!
Your support means a lot to me, friends. Thank you for being here.

๐ฅ๐บ Progress UPDATE ๐บ๐ฅ
Today was such a great day! Despite feeling unwell and missing classes and lab sessions, I managed to finish most of my tasks. I pushed through and made significant progress on my MVP, which addresses the issues faced by many people and students.
Today, I worked with semi-structured data formats like JSON and incorporated Lottie animations. Yesterday, I also attempted to integrate the Ethiopian๐ช๐น calendar into my project, and I pushed through the challenges, itโs been interesting!
With my background in C++ and other programming languages from university, I found myself debugging, compiling, and writing code using penโ๏ธ and paper๐. I always use paper to check my understanding, but this journey feels different. Asking for help from AI and compiling code on my phone adds a unique twist to the experience.
I also found it amazing to reflect on where Iโm headed. Asking for comments and advice from positive peers and my seniors has been incredibly valuable.
Even though our journeys vary, I've learned that taking breaks and pushing through tasks builds confidence. A new life lesson I learned today is to ask myself,โWould I wake up two hours earlier than usual to tackle this task?โ This simple question can redefine how I approach time-consuming activities.
From my experience with committing and pushing code, Iโve realized that treating it as a final task after finishing my work can be problematic.๐ฎโ๐จ Iโve lost some of my work in the past and couldnโt retrieve previous versions even with Ctrl+Z. My process now looks like this:
Last year, I had a tough time pushing my changes to Git due to conflicts, but this year, Iโve become friends with Git commands, which makes the experience much more enjoyable!
๐ I want to thank God for this generous Tuesday๐.
Currently,
Iโm building a revolution for Ethiopians.

โ๏ธmy Wednesdayโ๏ธ
Today, I just finished my Mobile App Engineering course from Gebeya. The course covered general and basic concepts, including various mobile development frameworks like Flutter and React Native, as well as native languages like Objective-C, Swift, and Kotlin. While we focused on Flutter, the exposure to these different technologies provided great experience.
It's a wonderful opportunity to learn from every resource available, even though it can be challenging to fully harness my potential and maintain productivity at times. I once came across a definition of productivity that made me realize mine might be a bit unconventional.
This achievement is a significant milestone in my knowledge journey, thank God for this!
Additionally, I had a meaningful lunch with a mentor, during which I gained a wealth of life lessons that I will apply every day.

Today was a super blessed and productive day!๐ฅณ
I had an amazing morning filled with several classes: PLP, Flutter specialization, Research, and Operating Systems. In the afternoon, I attended my Internet Programming Lab, which added to the dayโs productivity.
I made the evening even more fruitful by having a meeting on Google Meet with my mentor, Ruth. We spent over two hours together, during which I received invaluable advice and insights from her university experience. Iโm especially grateful for her invaluable time as we focused on Flutter and discussed various aspects of being a good developer, including energy and time management.
I truly donโt take this time for granted and want to express my gratitude to God for His blessings and to @dot_ruth for her support. This experience means a lot to me and has made my evening productive. I'm incredibly thankful for the meaningful connections God provides๐!
