I solved my first hard problem. and guess what... I didn't use AI

I started leetcode when we started our first semester this year to join A2SV. a lot of people were applying to join A2SV by solving more than 10 problems a day using AI like chatgpt. at that time I didn't want to do so because you know what is the point if I pass... but things didn't go well A2SV just selected people with more than 70 problems solved for an interview. I did 45 at that time and got discouraged when I see I'm selected and stopped. but when one of my friend who made it to A2SV (spoiler alert; he didn't use an AI 😁) he told me there's gonna be an intake in february which was the month just after the first semester ended. So I stayed at college for the brake and did leetcode for the whole month... (I don't know why I was so obsessed with A2SV though 😂) and there were no announcements. I reached out to some of the HoEs (Head of Education) and eve Emre himself and they told me there's not gonna be any intake in this year. once again I was discouraged and slowly stopped leetcoding. on march A2SV announced there's going to be an intake and that applicants need 150 problems solved to apply. I had 110 problems at that time and only four days until the application deadline. so because knew I didn't make it last time when I honestly tried to apply by solving problems by myself but this time I solved about half (20) of the remaining 40 problems and I made it to the interview. but then again I was kinda nervous and was not good at explaining my solution. I didn't pass.

During these times I was grinding leetcode solely to become an A2SVian. but it taught me problem solving and because I saw improvements on myself on development, I decided to continue solving at least one or two problems a day. With GC project, class, final exams, It was hard to keep up but I tried.

It was this time I heard about Blue Nile Dev Community founded by Sifen, Ayida and Ruth. I joined them as an intermediate and at first we were doing easy problems, and as we go through the course it was becomming more and more harder. and today I did my first Hard problem.

It’s been more than a year since this channel was created. During that time, it has been my personal space to post my accomplishments, thoughts, and stories as I level up in problem-solving and development. That’s why I haven’t promoted it publicly (well… except on my profile 😁).

I know that someday this channel will be full of people and today we hit our highest number of joins in a single day: Seven. That happened because the 50th member, Ayida shared one of our posts. Huge shoutout to her 😁,

Should I be worried about Mebrat Hayl? Everyone seems to complain about it, but I haven’t had any issues so far

One of the biggest things I struggle with while building a project is lack of motivation.
Thoughts like “Am I wasting my time?”, “Will this even get a good response?”, “What if no one likes it?”, or “What if it completely fails?” constantly run through my mind. These kinds of questions drain your energy, stop you from making real progress.

But here's the shift in mindset that keeps me going:
What if it actually works?
What if someone finds value in it?
What if this small idea helps or inspires even one person?

Even if it doesn’t go viral or become a success story, the journey is still worth it. By finishing the project, I gain experience. I learn. I grow. I build something I can be proud of, something I can show on my portfolio. So there’s no failure here!

So now, my perspective is simple: just build. Even when motivation fades, build anyway. Because the only real failure is giving up too early.

If you’re like me, stuck on self-doubt remember "done is better than perfect." Work on it. Finish it.

I like it when I start from scratch when I learn something new.
Like today I started learning the web(I've never been a web dev mostly because I don't like it but now I think I need to know at least the basics) and ran into quirks mode which was introduced when the standards of web development were made by the W3C. When I read about W3C I got introduced to the earliest browsers Netscape Navigator and IE along with the the browser war during the 19s.

All this was because I was trying to know the purpose of <!DOCTYPE html>

Today we kicked off our internship at KurazTech and the orientation was good. I'm surprised to know that internships have a learning phase. When I started my first internship back in third year, my supervisor just gave me a project to work on and I had figure out everything... Anyway I have a feeling that it's gonna be a great experience. I'll just trust the process and see where it takes me😊

July plans:
- Get involved in church programs
- Release Grindly MVP
- Solve at least 30 LC problems
- Learn a lot from my internship

Idk why I get nervous in meetings 😩

I am super happy to announce that ScholarXIV.com has gotten an amazing Angel Investor.

He is investing $10k for 8% of the company at a post-money evaluation of $125k, and also apart from the investment, this investor is paying and helping with the incorporation of the company.

The investor is very incredible first for reaching out and then in that the investment is solely based on me and not on the product itself. Meaning I could pivot, I could decide the date I'll accept the investment and just makes things very flexible for me.

Currently I have decided to deal with the investment after YC applications which the investor is completely fine with but I have now started speeding up the company formation process in the US while expenses are covered by the Angel Investor.

There's still so much to go, so many decisions to make and most importantly so much to build. But even being in this spot and position is all God's good doing and grace. I also would like to thank all of you for the support and encouragement.

This's wonderful news and it's all credits to God.

Has Leetcode helped in your real life job?

A lot of people say Leetcode is useless for the real job, is that true?

I am aware the two styles of coding are completely different, they have different aims, but surely to some degree there would be crossover? Or it really like oil and water.

Yes!
There was a situation at work where the future of the company depended on efficiently solving an algorithm.

We assembled a dozen engineers. No one else knew how to solve the probalem. We were stumped. 'The best we can do is quadratic time' one engineer said.. 'We might have to close this product of we cannot find a better solution' the CTO announced.

That's when I realized it ☝️-- the problem can be reduced to finding the longest increasing subsequence! I quickly coded up a solution in Python in 35 minutes.

The CTO was flabbergasted. I was promoted 5 SDE levels that day.

Then I woke up from my dream and went back to work making shitty Java APIs
