Funding opportunities for PhD and MS at University of California, Davis
I am hoping that you can help us get the word out about the opportunities
we have in the Transportation Technology and Policy (TTP) program at UC
Davis. Please share the information below with your students and encourage
them to check it out if they would like to pursue a career in
transportation with a degree in the US. We are now accepting applications
for Fall 2019.
On a personal note, this year I expect to be able to offer funding to
several students interested in doing research on future mobility, travel
behavior impacts of emerging transportation technologies, big data, and
sustainable transportation through the newly established 3 Revolutions
Future Mobility Program. All inquiries about applying to the TTP program
can be sent to our graduate program coordinator Annemarie Schaaf at
aschaaf@ucdavis.edu.
Thanks,
Giovanni Circella

Postdoc opportunities in Machine Learning and Transport Research
For all recent (or upcoming) PhD graduates, I’d like to bring your attention to several 2 year postdoc grant opportunities that will become available during the next couple of months at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). The deadlines will be announced soon. Check http://www.dtu.dk/english/research/research-at-dtu/postdoc-programmes
Particularly, if you are interested in doing research that combines Machine Learning and Transport Research, please contact me ASAP, so that we can jointly design a proposal.
General areas of interest of current research in my group include:
- Parametric + Non-parametric approaches (e.g. for combining “big" and "small" data)
- Deep Learning applied to Transport Research
- Probabilistic Graphical Models for Demand Modeling
- Causal Inference in Transport models
- Generative approaches for population synthesis
- Active Learning and Bayesian optimization for scenario discovery
If you are interested, please just send me a short introductory email (I mean, shorter than this one!), with your CV and your research interest. Please understand that I tend to receive dozens of such contacts, so please be short. On my side, I will also be very direct.
Best regards!
