I am pleased to announce our paper entitled “Structural equation modelling of potential risk factors for pedestrian accidents in rural and urban roads” in the International Journal of Injury Control and Safety Promotion is published online. The present study depicts a better understanding and perception of potential precursors of accidents that have so far been ignored by analyzing pedestrian accidents based on accident database data. Besides, investigating factors associated with pedestrian accidents on urban, suburban, and rural roads to identify latent and observed variables has not been addressed so far in a comprehensive study. So, we developed a structural equation model (SEM) that can show the relationships between the road, environmental, and driver factors on possibility of pedestrian accidents

I am currently editing a Special Issue of the Sustainability Journal (ISSN 2071-1050) entitled "Emerging Technologies and Sustainable Road Safety".
In this Special Issue, which belongs to the section "Sustainable Transportation", we aim to reveal the impacts of different technologies on generating sustainable safety. This Special Issue will help researchers and practitioners understand the impact of new technologies on traffic safety improvement, potential technological and practical barriers, and the analysis tools and techniques required, to name a few.
In view of the established objectives of this Special Issue, we invite scholars and practitioners to submit their original research or review articles by September 30th, 2021.

*آیین نامه طراحی معابر شهری (1399) ابلاغ گردید.*

آیین‌نامه «طراحی معابر شهری» که در جلسه روز دوشنبه دوم تیرماه ۱۳۹۹ شورای‌عالی شهرسازی و معماری ایران به تصویب رسیده بود، در آذرماه 1399 ابلاغ گردید. این آیین نامه همانند نسخه پیشین به عنوان مرجع واحد و مبنای مشخص به منظور طراحی و ارزیابی کلیه طرح‌های مرتبط با شبکه معابر شهری نظیر طرح های توسعه و عمران (جامع) شهری، طرح های هادی، تفصیلی و ... مورد استفاده و استناد قرار می گیرد. توجه به گونه‌های مختلف حمل‌ونقل پایدار و لزوم تغییر نگرش در طراحی شبکه معابر شهری، در نظر گرفتن نیاز همه کاربران شبکه معابر، بازیابی نقش اجتماعی این فضاهای شهری، اولویت‌دهی به کاربران آسیب‌پذیر نظیر عابران پیاده و دوچرخه‌سواران، اهمیت حمل‌ونقل همگانی و کاهش وابستگی به خودروی شخصی تنها بخشی از مسائل اساسی در به‌روزرسانی آیین‌نامه «طراحی معابر شهری» بر اساس اصول توسعه پایدار است.

It is my pleasure to inform you that my paper entitled "Assessing Drivers’ Compliance with Restrictive Yellow Traffic Lights in a Developing Country" was published online ahead of print in Transportation Research Record (TRR). Driving rules adopt permissive or restrictive policies concerning yellow light running (YLR). In a restrictive policy, vehicles behind the stop line are not allowed to enter the intersection on yellow no matter how close they are to the stop line. This paper examines whether drivers are only non-compliant with red lights or whether non-conformity to any prohibitive yellow/red signal emerges as a wider behavioural issue. It is my pleasure to inform you that our paper entitled "Detecting crash hotspots using grid and density-based spatial clustering" was published online ahead of print in Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers -Transport. Our paper employs a grid and density-based clustering algorithm called GriDBSCAN to analyse crash data and find their spatial patterns. Other clustering methods such as Nearest Neighbour Hierarchical (NNH) and Kernel Density Estimation (KDE) were also applied to validate the results of the GriDBSCAN algorithm.
