IELTS 9.0 √Suhrobjon Abdivaliev

It is true that many young individuals find it much more difficult to navigate higher education than studying at school, especially in developing countries. While this ironic situation can be attributed to the confluence of practical and emotional factors, I believe that effective measures can be taken to address, or at least alleviate this problem.

The difficulty in studying at university or college revolves around pragmatic and sentimental considerations. From a pragmatic standpoint, with the ever-escalating cost of living in many parts of the world, young people often feel compelled to work in part-time jobs after finishing high school to support their parents financially. Although this course of action helps alleviate the financial burden placed on families, it also interferes with youngsters’ academic pursuits, making it increasingly challenging to excel in standardized exams. Take my home country of Uzbekistan, where university and college students resort to working overtime to cover their living expenses due to increasing rental prices and transportation expenses.

On the emotional level, young people also experience a heightened sense of responsibility while studying at university or college. Concerns about how to get a diploma, find a rewarding and lucrative job, and start a new family make it extremely difficult to invest undivided attention in their academic endeavors. As a result, they may fall behind their coursemates, leading to compromised academic performance.

However, it is still possible to counteract this concerning trend. Firstly, it is crucial for educational institutions or governmental bodies to take responsibility for providing university and college students with consistent financial backing. This financial assistance can come in various forms, ranging from increased scholarships to reduced tuition fees. Therein lies the opportunity to help students focus purely on their studies without the lefty weight of monetary concerns.

Secondly, university and college instructors, on their part, should express sympathetic attitudes towards their students who struggle to keep up with their peers. Unless students have a reliable source of emotional support from their tutors and classmates, a hostile academic environment may exacerbate their challenges in balancing education with leisure time and personal life. The role of uni teachers can also go beyond a sense of sympathy and understanding to counseling. If young people receive constructive feedback on their academic achievement, devise ways to juggle responsibilities, and find out how to cope with potential challenges, it would make a significant difference in their academic journeys.

In conclusion, many university and college students face greater difficulties compared to schoolchildren for a variety of pragmatic and sentimental reasons. However, it is feasible to address, or at least reduce, this issue if educational establishments, governmental entities, and pedagogical experts take action.
