🇺🇦 Ukraine's Zelensky laments that US doesn't 'have time for Ukraine' because of Iran war

In an exclusive interview with the Associated Press in Istanbul Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed fears that a "prolonged" U.S.-Israeli war on Iran is diverting American attention and resources away from Ukraine.

Zelenskyy highlighted that Russia benefits economically from the Mideast war due to surging oil prices.

"We have to recognize that we are not the priority for today," Zelenskyy said, noting his fear that a long war would result in reduced support.

Zelenskyy fears that the focus on Iran will diminish the delivery of vital U.S.-made Patriot air defense missiles, which are needed to counter Russian attacks.

🇺🇸 The U.S. Navy has officially confirmed the loss of a $240 million MQ-4C Triton high-altitude, long-endurance maritime reconnaissance drone.

The incident occurred on April 9, 2026. The drone (likely serial 169804) was conducting a routine ~3-hour surveillance patrol over the Persian Gulf and the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz before the event unfolded while it was returning toward its forward operating base at Naval Air Station Sigonella, Italy.

After completing its mission, the Triton briefly crossed into Saudi Arabian airspace. It then made an abrupt northeast turn toward Iranian airspace. The drone squawked transponder code 7400 (loss of communication with ground controllers) followed by 7700 (general in-flight emergency). It descended rapidly from its normal cruising altitude of ~50,000–52,000 feet down to below 10,000 feet (as low as 6,000–9,500 feet) in roughly 15 minutes. The transponder signal was lost while the aircraft was still over the Persian Gulf.

Analysts and open-source reports have highlighted the possibility that Iran electronically interfered with the drone.

The Persian Gulf region is known for frequent GPS spoofing, jamming, and other electronic warfare activity—especially heightened during the recent U.S.-Iran conflict. The abrupt turn toward Iranian airspace, followed immediately by the loss of comms link and rapid uncontrolled descent, has fueled speculation that jamming or spoofing of the drone’s satellite communications, navigation, or control links may have contributed to or caused the mishap.

Iran has invested heavily in such capabilities, though U.S. officials have not attributed the loss directly to hostile EW and emphasize no proof of deliberate action at this stage.

It crashed into the Persian Gulf near the Strait of Hormuz in international airspace (south of Iran). Exact impact coordinates remain undisclosed for operational security.

🚨 🇺🇸 U.S. DECLARES "TOTAL VICTORY" IN IRAN CONFLICT

President Trump has officially declared that the war with Iran is "very close to over," marking a historic shift in the Middle East landscape. Following weeks of intense military engagement, the administration is now signaling a pivot from kinetic operations to "grand bargain" diplomacy.

U.S. military assessments indicate a near-total dismantling of Iran’s conventional capabilities. Key figures released by the administration suggest that 90% of Iran’s naval fleet and weapons manufacturing facilities have been neutralized, alongside 80% of its air defense systems.

With over 13,000 targets struck, the White House maintains that the objective of neutralizing the immediate threat has been achieved.

The President has suspended further bombing campaigns following the receipt of a 10-point ceasefire proposal. Negotiated through Pakistani mediation, this framework aims to address long-standing issues, most notably the permanent termination of Iran’s nuclear program.

Vice President JD Vance has characterized the current phase as an opportunity for a generational "grand bargain."

While the declaration of victory has brought a sense of closure to the military phase, the global ripple effects remain. The IMF continues to monitor potential recessionary risks, and oil markets remain volatile as a U.S.-led naval blockade of Iranian ports persists to ensure compliance.

Direct talks are expected to continue in Pakistan. While the "war" may be declared over, the diplomatic heavy lifting—rebuilding regional stability and verifying disarmament—is just beginning.

Is this the dawn of a new era for the Middle East, or the start of a complex reconstruction?

Israel is obviously not HAPPY.

🇰🇵 DPRK ability to develop nuclear weapons 'Wows' nuclear watchdog

North Korea is showing a "very serious increase" in its ability to produce nuclear weapons, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has said.

South Korea's spy agency has said it is believed that North Korea operates multiple facilities for enriching uranium, a key step in making nuclear warheads,

They include one at the Yongbyon nuclear site, which Pyongyang purportedly decommissioned after talks but later reactivated in 2021.

"In our periodic assessments, we have been able to confirm that there's a rapid increase in the operations" of the Yongbyon reactor, IAEA chief Rafael Grossi said at a news conference in Seoul.

The agency had also observed a rise in operations at Yongbyon's reprocessing unit and light-water reactor, as well as the activation of other facilities, Mr Grossi said.

🇺🇸 Former Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax kills his wife and then himself, police say

(CNN) — Former Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax shot and killed his wife inside their Virginia home and then killed himself, Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis said.

The shooting stemmed from an ongoing domestic dispute surrounding “what seems to be a complicated or messy divorce,” Davis said.

Fairfax County police responded to the home in Annandale, Virginia, shortly after midnight, where they found a man and woman dead inside, Capt. Chris Cosgriff said earlier. There is no threat to the community, and detectives are investigating, according to police.

Fairfax served as lieutenant governor under Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam from 2018 to 2022. He also ran for governor of Virginia in 2021.

Fairfax faced calls for resignation following sexual assault allegations against him in 2019.
