As Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu spoke at the UN today, the Israeli air force dropped massive bombs on a residential neighborhood in southern Beirut, near the airport, destroying an entire residential block. The dead and wounded are still being counted.

The blast shook houses 20 miles north of Beirut. Prior to this latest attack by the Israeli military, it had already killed 700 people in Lebanon since Monday.

Meanwhile today, the Israeli military bombed the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, the only hospital functioning in central Gaza, killing one person and injuring seven others. After almost one year of genocide, the Israeli military has killed at least 42,000 Palestinians in Gaza.

Yesterday, the Israeli government announced it had secured an $8.7 billion weapons package from the United States.

The Israeli military's attacks on Lebanon, an extension of its genocide in Gaza, make it very clear: This was never about Jewish safety, this was never about Israeli hostages. The Israeli government has avoided a ceasefire, and instead pursued a campaign of expansion and destruction, for its own political gains.

As American Jews committed to the sanctity of life, we are calling on the United States government to stop sending weapons to Israel. There is one clear way to stop this: Call your Senators immediately and tell them to block these bombs, and to support a full weapons embargo on the Israeli government to save Palestinian and Lebanese lives.
