Today, I took a virtual placement test for my writing (English 107) course at my university. The test consisted of around 15 questions and two writing topics. The first topic required me to introduce myself to my new professor, with a word limit of up to 550 words. The second topic involved writing a summary for the article titled 'Laughter may be effective medicine for these trying days,' which I found to be quite useful. I thought it would be nice to share it with you.
Enjoy! 😎
The last day in Uzbekistan 🥲 (for 2023) feels really, really different. Last year at this time, I was dreaming of becoming an international student...
It turns out duas absolutely come true

🔍 Decoding Application Deadlines and Requirements: Navigating the Path to University Admission 🎓✉️

Greetings, aspiring scholars! I have shared more than 50 posts about #application_process and wanted to share a bit advanced version of it.
Today, we embark on a journey of unraveling the mysteries surrounding application deadlines and requirements for university admission. Join me as we navigate the intricate pathways of college applications, decipher the language of deadlines, and unlock the doors to your academic dreams. Let's begin our quest! 🚀

When it comes to applying for university, understanding the intricacies of application deadlines and requirements is crucial. Each institution has its own unique set of guidelines, and deciphering them can sometimes feel like decrypting a secret code. Fear not, for we shall shed light on this enigma and equip you with the knowledge to navigate this process with confidence.

1️⃣ Application Deadlines: The first step on this journey is to acquaint yourself with the various application deadlines. Universities typically offer different types of deadlines, including Early Decision, Early Action, Regular Decision, and Rolling Admission.

- Early Decision: This option is for students who have a clear top-choice university and are ready to commit to attending if accepted. The deadline for Early Decision applications is usually in the fall (often November). Keep in mind that Early Decision is binding, meaning that if you are accepted, you are obligated to enroll and withdraw applications from other institutions.

- Early Action: Early Action deadlines also fall in the autumn months. Unlike Early Decision, Early Action is non-binding, allowing you to apply to multiple universities and decide later. It provides an earlier notification of admission decisions, giving you more time to plan.

- Regular Decision: Regular Decision is the most common deadline type, typically falling in the early winter months (often January or February). It allows you to submit your application by this deadline and receive a decision later in the admission cycle.

- Rolling Admission: Some universities offer Rolling Admission, which means they review applications as they are received, rather than waiting for a specific deadline. It's advisable to apply early within the Rolling Admission period to increase your chances of admission and secure your spot.

2️⃣ Application Requirements: Now that we've decoded the deadlines, let's unravel the requirements. Universities typically have a set of common requirements, including:

- Application Form: Complete the university's application form, either through their online portal or a designated application platform.

- Personal Statement/Essay: Craft a compelling personal statement or essay that showcases your personality, experiences, and motivations. This is your chance to stand out and make a lasting impression.

- Transcripts: Submit official academic transcripts from your high school or previous educational institutions, demonstrating your academic achievements.

- Standardized Test Scores: Some universities require standardized test scores, such as the SAT or ACT. Be sure to check if the institutions you're applying to have this requirement and plan accordingly.

- Letters of Recommendation: Secure letters of recommendation from teachers, mentors, or employers who can attest to your abilities and character.

- Supplementary Materials: Certain programs or universities may request additional materials, such as portfolios for arts programs or writing samples for creative writing programs. Pay attention to these specific requirements and submit them accordingly.

Keeeeeeep in mind, it's crucial to carefully review each university's website or admissions portal to ensure you have the most up-to-date and accurate information regarding deadlines and requirements. Take note of any additional documents or forms that may be required and give yourself ample time to gather and submit them.

While writing a letter to myself on April 3, 2023, I didn't have complete belief that I would be able to accomplish everything I mentioned. It was more like a 50/50 chance, but something inside me motivated me to write those goals for my future self. Interestingly, I chose the date randomly and completely forgot that I would receive a letter from my past self. Now, suddenly receiving this letter from myself to myself, I can proudly say that I made it, I did it. Alhamdulillah!
