It is why there is little to no immersion in storytelling. It's all author self-inserts with shower thought monologues and dialogues. Good storytelling has asymmetries and it touches upon the "theatre of the absurd" as David Lynch would describe.

Let this simmer a bit: imagine celebrity worship for story characters. Imagine working backwards from that to come back with the story. It's fucked up fan-service self-service and there is nothing to be a fan of in the end as the consumer. Only done by an author who is a fan of himself/herself.
