SEBI's IPO Revolution: Simplifying Success for Companies.
1. Reduction in Security Deposit Requirement: The requirement for companies to deposit a security amount equivalent to 1% of the total issue size for public offerings of equity shares has been eliminated.
2. Relaxation in Minimum Promoters' Contribution (MPC): Promoter group entities and non-individual shareholders holding over 5% of the post-offer equity share capital can *"now contribute to MPC without being classified as promoters**.
3. Lock-in Period for Stake: A 20% stake is locked in for 18 months, including large shareholders owning more than 5% stake, and shares converted from other securities like warrants.
4. Consideration of Compulsorily Convertible Securities: Equity shares resulting from the conversion of compulsorily convertible securities held for at least a year before filing the Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP) will now be considered for meeting the MPC requirement.
5. Simplified Process for Adjusting Offer for Sale (OFS): Adjustments in OFS size must be based on either the issue size in rupees or the number of shares disclosed in the draft offer document.
6. Flexibility in Extending Bid/Offer Closing Date: In case of force majeure events, the bid/offer closing date can be extended with only one additional day, providing companies with more flexibility during the IPO process.

Electoral Bonds Disclosed: BJP Takes Lead with ₹6,061 Crore, Corporate Backing Alters Political Financing Scene.
The recently released data by the Election Commission reveals the significant beneficiaries of electoral bonds in Indian politics.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leads the pack with over ₹6,061 crore in funding, followed by the Trinamool Congress (TMC) with ₹1,610 crore, and the Congress with ₹1,422 crore. Additionally, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) secured ₹1,215 crore, while the Biju Janta Dal (BJD) received ₹776 crore through electoral bonds.
Notably, the BJP accounted for nearly half of the total bond encashment, followed by TMC and Congress. The State Bank of India (SBI) issued bonds worth ₹16,518 crore between April 2019 and February 2024, with notable contributions from companies like Piramal Enterprises, Megha Engineering, and Grasim Industries to various political parties, other significant corporate donors include Bharti Airtel, Torrent Power, DLF Commercial Developers, and Vedanta Ltd.
