Today, the National Organizer of the Socialist Students Union of Sri Lanka (a member organisation of the World Federation of Democratic Youth), Comrade Rangana Lakmal Dewapriya, was arrested after a protest. The demonstration denounced the repression of leaders during the protests that have taken place during these months by using the Prevention of Terrorism Act and the Emergency Regulations.

The World Federation of Democratic Youth wants to denounce the repression, which only seeks to intimidate the youth and the people to stop their struggle. We reiterate our solidarity with the repressed students’ activists, union activists, civil organization activists and comrades and with their dignified demands.
