Keep in mind that Russia is the advancing side there. Meaning that Russians get the corpses of their fallen soldiers themselves, while Ukrainians' are left behind as they're retreating

I understand that perspective, we can see a similar trend in summer 2023 during the Ukrainian summer offensive and in August 2024 during the Kursk incursion the amount of Russian bodies returned to Russia by Ukraine increases, but we can see that at most it is 4:1 in favor of Ukraine at August 2023, while this year has been 14:1-18:1 in favor of the Russians despite not a lot of land being gained, especially compared to November and December 2024 which shows that although the Russian advances have slowed the Ukrainians take increasing casualties and generally take more casualties than the Russians...

TLDR: Russia is advancing slower this year but Ukraine is taking more casualties so they spend what they have to slow down, not stop the Russians at the cost of manpower and equipment.
