Good morning! There are just 3️⃣ days to go until the end of the semester, so keep up the hard work! 💪

You must have noticed the glass donations box located right by the main entrance! It is managed by the student charity organization Gorloks Give Back, which is collecting money to give to a family in need, to make their winter a little bit easier 🤝

🔸 Gorloks Give Back invites everyone who wants to spread joy and kindness to put any sum into the donations box. 🔸

The box has been approved by the administration. If you have any questions, please contact the Student Affairs Officer, Aziz Nishanov.
🔹 Welcome to Seven Days of Webster! 🔹

This is a special series which will feature holiday-related posts! Starting tomorrow, for a week, we will post something useful or interesting about Webster, Tashkent, or the holiday season.

For the first Seven Days of Webster, we offer you a list of things to do during the Winter break. Read below 👇

1) Go ice-skating and hang out with Qorbobo at Coca-Cola New Year Festival 2020 at Humo Arena From Dec 20 to Jan 5 between 12:00 and 22:00. FREE EVENT.

2) Watch the end of a saga in “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” which had its world premiere on December 16 🧙‍♂️ Different times, in all cinemas.

3) Take your younger siblings or cousins to see the puppet show “Hansel and Gretel” 👨‍👧‍👦 Silk Route Marionettes theater in Samarqand Darvoza. For schedules, go to iticket.uz .

4) Catch a film screening at Ilkhom Theater 📽 On Nov 24, watch “The Hunt” (2012, dir. Thomas Vinterberg) in Russian. FREE EVENT.

5) Learn about the first Uzbek photographer and cinematographer Khudaybergen Divanov at an exhibition featuring his works, other archive footage, and contemporary photographers - “Terra of Silence: The forgotten civilization of ancient Khorezm” 📸 Until Dec 29 at Bonum Factum Gallery. 6) Run for charity at the CreditAsia Charity Run 🏃🏻‍♀️ All proceeds will go to a children’s home for kids with disabilities. January 2 from 10:00-14:00 in the Botanical Garden. Participation costs 100K. To register, go to www.creditasia.uz/competitions.

7) See professional ice-skaters perform the New Year classic story “The Nutcracker” at Humo Arena 🎭 January 7 and 8 at different times. For schedules and tickets, go to iticket.uz .

8) Cheer on our local hockey team during matches versus Russian and Kazakh teams 🏒 January 5, 7, 9, 11 at different times in Humo Arena. For schedules and tickets, go to iticket.uz (use promocode “iticket10%” to get 10% off).

​​🔷 Are you a student admitted to Spring 2020? You are invited to New Student Orientation on Friday, January 10! 🔷

🔹 Orientation starts at 9:30. We will be finalizing your student status at Webster University and taking your photo from 9:30 to 11. There will be an assembly at 11:30.

🔹 Please bring your passports!

🔹 Please come earlier to make sure we can finish everything before the assembly! You will also have a chance to meet your coursemates during icebreakers once you are done registering!

​​Webster is pleased to host a guest lecture on the topic of the internationalization of education, which will be given by Dilnoza Ubaydullaeva, a Visiting Research Fellow at George Washington University (USA) and researcher at the Australian National University. This is truly a unique chance to ask a specialist about the trends of global higher education and how they affect Uzbekistan. Surely we all have something to say on the matter 🤔

​​What is the definition of “plagiarism”? 😱 What counts as plagiarism, and how do you avoid doing it? The Student Success Office is organizing a new event for undergraduate students just to address these questions and more at the Academic Integrity Workshop.
