π¨ URGENT: An Ethiopian Dev is #1 in the World - We Need to Hold the Line! πͺπΉ
Selam devs,
A 24-year-old solo developer from Addis Ababa just beat 10,000 global teams to reach the finals of the Amazon (AWS) AIdeas Challenge.
He built Ivy an offline-capable AI tutor for Ethiopian students on $80 Android phones.
Right now, Ivy is Ranked #1 Globally. But a massive corporate team from India is only 29 votes behind, mobilizing their universities to overtake us tonight.
We cannot let Ethiopia lose this. The US has Silicon Valley. India has Bangalore. Ivy has us.

Being a Software dev/ Engineer / Student isnβt a flexβ¦unless you know what you built, how you built it, and actually made money from it.
otherwise youβre just beta Claude thatβs not well trained π

Happy Anniversary
2 years with Flutter πΈ πβ¦ crazy to think itβs been that long.
the thing that started this whole journey, the struggles, the growth, and everything in between.
Still here. Still learning. Still building.
And yeahβ¦ I guess Iβm still fluttering π

2 years ago I got assigned to an internship at Ethiopian Space Science and Geospatial Institute. I was excited⦠until reality hit.
We had two options: Django or Flutter.
I donβt even know whyβ¦ but I chose Flutter.
No guidance. No proper tutorials. Just 2 weeks intro then boom ..real development.

The beginning was chaos π
We had to figure out AR + Unity integration with Flutter in 2 months. I didnβt even know Dart properly at that time.
First week was just pain: running on real device, debugging, wireless debugging (felt like premium feature π), then Gradle π
And all that while learning AR, Firebase, maps, indoor navigation⦠I was lost. Honestly even depressed.

at some point I shifted to laravel cuz I never even saw myself as a flutter dev.
then I joined Kuraz and everything restarted from zero ..simple apps, BMI, business cardsβ¦
Slowly I started loving Flutter again.
Thatβs when I learned to compare my self to my own lazy assπ
