I just found out from a coworker that the owner of the apartment building on 200 carondelet is attempting to evict their residents to collect on damages on renovate. Not sure how to confirm this but all the residents are sitting outside and are being told they need to leave bc it's "unsafe"

Hiii everyone, just a heads up for folks who don’t know - We’ve been discussing doing a Hurricane Drill Role Play on this channel so we can test our resources and imaginative skill sets when it comes to possibilities of future inclement weather events. This will be happening sometime in the next few days - we will make an announcement as to when it’s happening asap. It will look like one or two people being the DM (Dungeon Master) but in this case WM (Weather Mage) and they will be creating the conditions that we will as players be responding to.
The guidelines are as follows - use what you know, resources you actually have access to and believable real world examples. No magical silver bullets, consider what you can accomplish IRL. Build on the networks we have inside the city and outside of it. Imagination is heavily encouraged, for problem solving and beyond. Invite whoever you would want to participate in it, anyone who it would be relevant for locally or further outside of New Orleans.
The Hurricane Drill Role Play will take place for 3 consecutive days - more info to come…

We will begin the drill today at 6pm ! Anyone is welcome to participate. TW: The content over the next three days may be triggering to folks. As the content is centered around a fictional extreme weather event. Please use caution and care when deciding whether or not to participate.

[WM] * 36 hours earlier * Mayor Cantrell has ordered mandatory evacuations for residents in low-lying areas outside of the levee system. There is a voluntary evacuation ordered for inside the city's levee system. Many schools have closed. What have y’all been doing the past 36 hours???
[WM] Reminder for Guidelines: Use what you know, resources you actually have access to IRL and believable real world examples. No magic silver bullets, consider what you can accomplish IRL. Build on the networks we have inside the city and outside of it. For example if you aren’t local to Gulf Coast south IRL (in real life), you could organize making connections and supply runs into the city/ surrounding areas using your outside networks.

[WM] WEATHER UPDATE - Hurricane Achaea remains a CAT 3 with sustained winds of 125 MPH. Expected landfall at 12am CST east of New Orleans. Predicted maximum storm surge of 3 ft due to northernly winds minimizing the effect.

[WM] WEATHER UPDATE – Hurricane Achaea has made landfall near Port Sulfur, LA at approximately 12:00 AM CST as a Category 4 Hurricane. Sustained winds recorded at 147MPH with gusts of 178mph recorded. Storm surge remains minimal. The eye wall will pass 10 miles east of New Orleans before making its way inland. Power is presently out for the entirety of southern Louisiana. The storm is expected to fully clear the area by 6am CST.

[WM] With landfall we are entering the second day of this event! Moving forward there are going to be a few changes.
1. Day 2 covers the responses in the IMMEDIATE AFTERMATH of the hurricane. Rescue and recovery efforts, emergency response, and deployment of planned resources, that sort of thing. Prioritize however you wish. This is your narrative!
2. Actions now occur more or less in real time. If you commit to do something, understand what the time limitations are and that you likely wont be able to do multiple things at the same time. Communication can be done while “doing a task” though, so feel free to chat!
3. Those that stayed in New Orleans, those that stayed outside of New Orleans, and those that Evacuated, will all face different challenges. On that note…
4. WMs will either direct message or post in chat challenges that individuals and/or groups will face. These can range from communications issues to damage assessments to resource shortages.

[WM] The power is still out in New Orleans. Flooding in the city is minimal, but there has been heavy wind damage. There is a significant amount of flooding for areas outside of the levees. Many trees were uprooted during the storm, after being in drought conditions with no rain for nearly a month now. Trees and limbs have caused a significant amount of damage to houses and vehicles, as well as power lines. There are some pockets of cell service, Verizon/ATT customers in the east bank have service while most of New Orleans is without.

this site is supposed to have up-to-date info about road conditions in the area: https://www.511la.org/
www.511la.org
Provides up to the minute traffic and transit information for Louisiana. View the real time traffic map with travel times, traffic accident details, traffic cameras and other road conditions. Plan your trip and get the fastest route taking into account current…
[WM] *Day Three* power has come back on in parts of the city, but there’s no telling when it will completely return. Cell service is starting to return, but is spotty at best. Many homes need tarping, numerous trees need to be cleaned up off homes and out of the roads. Supply chains are disrupted.
Something to consider and discuss today (our last day) are actionable plans for the future, thinking about the next two weeks and beyond.
-As (and if) we rebuild, how are we rebuilding? Are there (feasible) alternative paths we can take as we reconstruct?
-How do our current efforts tie into preexisting projects for autonomy?
-As we begin to return to “normalcy” how do we meet our immediate needs while also rejecting the normalcy that has led us to this point?
-Is there anything that this event has changed in terms of your perspective on rebuilding or living differently in the gulf south?

[WM] !!! Thank you to all who participated in the Hurricane Drill Game. It was really cool to see everyone come together to offer skills and draw from our shared resources. Having a refresher on spaces that could be available to host pop up hubs, flexing our logistic muscles and making connections all felt really necessary and needed. Also just practicing on Telegram for folks who aren’t super familiar with using this app.
- I’ve been thinking about how similar versions of this game could be used for all different scenarios that we would want to prepare for. If anyone is excited to make their own game in that vein, let us know how it goes ! or dm us if you want any input or help with it
- It would be great to talk about what worked and what didn’t, this was our first run through so there’s definitely room for improvement.
- If y’all wanna talk on the chat about what you liked/didn’t like about it please go for it or DM us if you’d rather that.

Weather Alert! Not a drill!
A tornado has touched down in the greater New Orleans area, confirmed in Holy Cross, Gretna, lower 9, St. Charles, and moving through Chalmette now. Please stay safe, have a tornado plan, and look out for each other! Mutual aid will be mobilizing when it's safe to move. Many places have lost power, please be safe around the debris.
