US President Trump: "There will be a deal with Iran soon. We won't have to drop bombs on it."

US President Donald Trump said tonight on the way from the Pope's funeral in Rome that "the US is very close to an agreement with Iran" and added: "There will be a deal here without the need to bomb. I want to end the Iran issue."

His comments come after a third meeting between his envoy Steve Witkoff and the Iranian foreign minister in Oman, mediated by the Omani foreign minister. The US reported progress, but the Wall Street Journal reported that there were disagreements, mainly around continued uranium enrichment and Iran's missile project.
