🗓❄️ On this wonderful winter day, hearts stir not only for romance, but for the sea and the ships that sail it! On February 14, 1939, 87 years ago, the legendary 🇩🇪 German battleship Bismarck was launched from the slips of the Hamburg shipyard Blohm + Voss, beginning its brief yet enduring chapter in the history of naval warfare.

At the time of her launch, the Bismarck was considered a masterpiece of engineering. Displacing 50,000 tons, she was armed with eight 380 mm guns and protected by heavy armor. The ship combined substantial firepower with high speed and was regarded as one of the most modern warships of her era.

💥 Her combat career was brief. On her first and only mission, Bismarck sank the British flagship HMS Hood, but was soon surrounded. After a prolonged and intense battle, she sank on May 27, 1941, and became a legend in naval history.
