Testing our Proposed APHE Shell Changes on the Dev Server!
Hey everyone! A significant number of voters expressed interest in testing the fragmentation damage that we discussed in our recent post here 11 — thanks everyone for voting!
Today, we’re inviting you to test these changes on the Dance of Dragons dev server. You can access this test through the in-game Events & Tournaments section under “Testing of APHE Shell damage changes”. Note: For now, this is only on the dev server.
Event Features
-Added fragmentation areas. After this test event and subsequent testing on the main server, we’ll hold another vote on introducing the proposed fragmentation area parameters for APHE shells to the main game server.
-After the shell explodes, its warhead remains intact provided that the mass of the explosive is less than 1.34% of the mass of the shell. The residual armor penetration of the warhead after the explosion depends on the ratio of the mass of the shell to the mass of the explosive.
-Changed secondary fragments of APHE shells. They now are strengthened to the level of fragments from AP shells.
The “Testing shells new parameters” option has been added to the Protection Analysis. This allows you to visually compare changes in the damage of APHE shells.
Important information
It’s also important to note that the planned changes to secondary fragments (point 3 mentioned above) and the preservation of the warhead of APHE shells (point 2 mentioned above) will be introduced after the release of the Dance of Dragons major update with no vote for them. The parameters of segmented fragmentation areas (point 1 mentioned above) may be introduced based on the results of a new vote that we’ll be telling you about in the future.

-A bug that caused the button for launching a UAV to change to the button for deploying a UGV activation, causing a tank to spawn has been fixed.
-A bug that caused shells replenished on a capture point to be damaged if they were lost in an ammo rack fire has been fixed.
-A synchronization bug that caused the destroyed reactive armor to appear functional for the player who has spawned in after the destruction of said armor has been fixed.
-A synchronization bug that caused the player to be visually shooting for other players if the player was holding down the firing key with a broken down autoloader has been fixed.

-Now when landing on an enemy aircraft carrier, a player will surrender just like it happens when landing on an airfield.

🎯 Following the Roadmap: Customizable Tank Reticles!
Our 2024 Roadmap included several interface improvements, and one of them was new reticles for modern tanks with improved elements of the tank’s gun sight systems. Today, we’re pleased to present it to you, not just in an updated form, but in a deeply customized form as well. This new feature will come to the game in the Dance of Dragons major update — let’s take a look!
A new option called “Sight settings” has been added to the Ground vehicle Battle Settings. When clicking on this button, you can create your own configuration of interface elements displayed in the gunner’s sight. Configurations that you create can be saved to individual vehicles or to every vehicle at a selected rank of a specific nation at once so that you don’t have to create a sight for each vehicle one by one. Plus, you can also use any sight on any vehicle in the game (yes, that means you can use the modern US sight on a T-34 if you want!).
The following elements can be customized:
▪️Grid sight. You can either select it from the grids already available in the game, or install a custom sight downloaded to the /UserSights/ folder located in the game directory
▪️Rangefinder indicator
▪️Turret rotation indicator
▪️Sight field of view indicator at maximum zoom
▪️Shot readiness indicator (shows readiness status and reload time)
Interface elements that do not affect aiming can be easily and conveniently dragged around the screen with your mouse cursor. Each element can be viewed in different modes: day, night, with a night vision device or with a thermal imager.
This is just the first version of the customizable aiming sights that will be coming to the game in the Dance of Dragons major update. New elements and additional settings may be added in the future. Meet Dance of Dragons, War Thunder’s third 2024 major update that features brand-new vehicles, quality of life additions and plenty of bug fixes. Welcome the first domestic aircraft from Switzerland to the game through the addition of the player-made premium P-16 strike aircraft for Germany! Next up is China, who’s received the JF-17 squadron vehicle and Al-Khalid-I premium tank from Pakistan, plus the superb J-10A fighter jet. The USA now has the T1E1 with a 90 mm cannon, as well as the F-111F bomber and AV-8B (Night Attack) Harrier variant as a premium, plus the USS Tennessee battleship. The excellent Stormer AD has joined Great Britain as an SPAA, plus the Australian F-111C bomber, with the USSR getting the fast-firing Su-24M. Besides this, the CTWV RCV for Japan and CV9035NL for France are now obtainable squadron vehicles! Last but not least, France has now received their Coastal fleet tree now in closed testing, one interesting boat is the La Combattante that can fire SS.11 missiles!

▪️The LF abbreviation in the Spitfire LF Mk.IXc’s name stands for “low altitude-fighter”. This Spitfire has an impressive rate of climb and record-breaking maneuverability for its rank. This wonderful fighter was flown by Yannis Agorastos Plagis, a Royal Air Force ace who became famous in the defense of Malta in 1942.
▪️The FR abbreviation in the Spitfire FR Mk.XIVe’s name stands for “fighter-reconnaissance”. This modification retained all the advantages of the Spitfire family, but received a more powerful Griffon engine and the ability to carry a 500 lb bomb. This aircraft was flown by the commander of the 414th Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force, James Prendergast, who conducted reconnaissance over Normandy before the Allied landings there.
