🚀 Battle Pass Season 24: “Do It Yourself” and Its Warbond Shop!

Crews often have to operate in the field. When there’s no fully equipped hangar with tools and specialists nearby, resourcefulness and ingenuity come into play! We’re dedicating Battle Pass Season 24 to the makeshift mechanics and resourceful engineers ready for the boldest improvisations. This season’s vehicle rewards were born from improvisation: the Romanian IAR-81 fighter fitted with a Bf 109G engine, and a Somali modification of the Italian FIAT 6616 armored car, equipped with a 57 mm rocket pod!

The German Bf 109 T-2 fighter is now available in the Warbond Shop for the first time. You can also obtain a trophy containing “Road Signs” decorations and the new “Black Widow” decal in exchange for Warbonds.

▶️Yak-15: First Soviet Jet

In the first years after World War II, Soviet aviation found itself in a pretty weird situation. Industry had ramped up production of thousands of modern piston-engine fighters, and the ranks were filled with hundreds of pilots hardened in combat against the Luftwaffe. But at the same time, jets — the German Schwalbes and the British Meteors — were already flying over Europe, while the Soviet Union still had no working jet engine of its own. A promising project by engineer Arkhip Lyulka was scrapped after the German invasion because the engineer had to be evacuated to the Ural mountains. And although Soviet design bureaus conducted experiments with jet and rocket engines from 1942 through 1945, none ever reached serial production.

Pavel Osipovich Sukhoi was born on July 22nd 1895. In the early 1910s, while a student in Gomel, he witnessed a flight by the famous aviator Sergei Utochkin; he loved it so much that he decided to dedicate his life to aircraft design. During the 1920s and 1930s, he worked under the supervision of Andrei Tupolev, and after developing the BB-1 bomber, he was given his own design bureau. The BB-1 — designated the Su-2 — saw extensive use during the early stages of the Second World War. The Su-7 was Sukhoi’s first production jet aircraft, while the Su-24 frontline bomber remains in service to this day.

The Su-7BMK is an export modification of the Su-7B fighter-bomber, supplied to the air forces of Algeria, Afghanistan, Iraq, India, Egypt and Syria (the Egyptian version of the aircraft is the variant we have in the game). It inherited excellent speed characteristics from the Su-7B and at the same time received two more hardpoints. Its forward armament consists of two 30 mm cannons, and the range of outboard weapons includes rockets of various calibers, 250 and 500 kg high-explosive bombs, and incendiary tanks.

▶️Hunter AFV: First-Class Support

The Hunter AFV is one of the most unusual vehicles introduced in the Heavy Cavalry update. On paper, it’s simply a Singaporean infantry fighting vehicle designed to replace the M113. Its appearance in the Israeli tech tree is no accident, however: the combat module was developed by the Israeli company Rafael. It’s an intriguing international project — so let’s see how it performs in War Thunder.

▶️The Richelieu Class: France’s Final Gamble

The Richelieu-class battleships were the swan song of France’s heavy surface fleet and among the most advanced warships of their time. Their story is more than a chronicle of armor, guns, and speed. It is the story of the ordeals faced by a once-great naval power on the eve of the Second World War. French engineers did not try to follow the path taken by the designers of Japan’s Yamato, nor did they chase record-breaking size. Instead, they placed their faith in a carefully judged balance of characteristics. That is why the Richelieu class is still often regarded as perhaps the most successful European battleship design of its generation.

British tanks are known for relying mostly on solid shot and sub-caliber rounds. But the Heavy Cavalry update has shaken things up: several vehicles have received APCBC shells.

▶️IS-2: Heavy All-Rounder

World War II saw a brief but brilliant golden age for the heavy tank. Only a handful of nations ever managed to build them in any real numbers: France, Britain, Germany, and the Soviet Union. For the French and the British, these beasts were essentially infantry battering rams, designed to smash through fortified lines. The Germans, meanwhile, turned to heavy armor mid-war out of sheer necessity. They needed something tough enough to counter enemy tanks head-on. The Soviets borrowed a page from the British playbook, but with a crucial twist: their heavies were meant to fight alongside mechanized units, so they had to balance thick armor with genuine mobility.
