it was narrated from humaid: I asked anas about the fasting of the prophet and he said: «whenever I liked to see the prophetﷺ fasting in any month, I could see that, and whenever I liked to see him not fasting, I could see that too, and if I liked to see him praying in any night, I could see that, and if I liked to see him sleeping, I could see that, too.»
anas further said, « I never touched silk or velvet softer than the hand of Allah's messenger ﷺ and never smelled musk or perfumed smoke more pleasant than the smell of Allah's messenger ﷺ »

abu sa'id al-khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:
a man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "who is the best among men?" he ﷺ replied,
« a believer who strives in the way of Allah with his wealth and life»
the man asked again, "who is next to him (in excellence)?"
he ﷺ said, «next to him is a man who is engaged in worshipping his Lord in a mountain valley, having taqwa of Allah, and leaving the people safe from his evil »

the dua of Muslims for their oppressed brothers is the embodiment and confirmation of Islamic brotherhood. by doing so, they are remembering and affirming their pain and affliction and also seeking their victory.
among the comprehensive sayings of the prophet, ﷺ is: “ o Allah, save the oppressed among the believers.” so include it in your dua for them and seek out the places (circumstances and times) where it will be answered.

if you want to reform and better your self, then take good care of the Qur’an. set a daily recitation that you do not miss, even if it is a little. repeat often and increase the repetition and do not slack in doing so. ponder upon the quran and listen to the tafsir of it. live with the Qur’an in all its details. stop when you are reading and really take it in as if you’re being addressed so that your heart softens and you humble yourself in front of Allah. and know that your secret and public actions and your life will only better when you increase in haya in front of Allah and all your dealings with your creator.

The rectification of the believers religion in winter:
Ibn Rajab said: “The believers religion is reformed in winter by whatever acts of obedience Allah facilitates in it. In winter, the believer is able to:
1) Fast without any hardship or expense that he suffers from, such as hunger or thirst; because his day is short and cold, so he does not feel the hardship of fasting.
2) Perform the night prayer. The worshipper reads his entire portion of the Qur’an, and his soul has had its share of sleep, thus completing the interest of his religion and the comfort of his body.”
So take advantage of the short, cold days of winter.

the prophet ﷺ said: every action act of worship has a shirrah ( a time of enthusiasm, and high energy and zeal), and every shirrah has a fitrah (a time where it lulls and the energy isn’t where you want it to be). so whoever’s fitrah is upon my sunnah and my path, then they have succeeded, and whoevers fitrah is not on that or upon something is, then they are in ruin.
it is those who could not pray or could not fast or could not do anything an act of worship for a period of time, that at times understand more the sweetness of returning to worshipping Allah with sound health and iman.
it is a joyful time when you can finally stand up in prayer, a joyful time when you break your fast for the first time, a joyful time because you have been nursed back to health, and back to Iman by Allah.
it is also a time of reflection, because we realise with honest eyes how much our shortcomings stifled us. how wetr we when we were away from those certain actions? when we were sick? when we were pardoned from worshipping for any reason? how did we long for them? did we increase in gratitude or did we stay idle?
we know from the sunnah of the prophet ﷺ that our iman fluctuates, and that there will be moments where it lulls — but why is it that when our iman is high and we are being tested by our blessings and good health, that we do not gear up for the moments, where it will naturally fluctuate?
this is why guidelines from the sunnah and Quran exist for us so we protect ourselves and our hearts in those times we are vulnerable. we do this by:
• increasing in voluntary acts. so that we have a baseline in things we cannot ever leave, even when our iman is low. this can be reciting (x) portions of the Quran in a day, or the witr prayer, etc.
• sticking to a good deed and being consistent with it. the prophet ﷺ said: the most beloved actions to Allah are those which are consistent, even if they are little.
• be realistic: know that there will be lulls, you will find it harder to worship Allah, you will be tempted by the desires of yourself and the temptations of this world, but pick yourself back up, every time and lean on Allah. It won’t always be perfect, Allah has created us imperfect, but just keep going and surround yourself with good people and a good environment that will help you and remind you of the good.

on the believer realising the weight and gravity of his sins
may Allah make us from those who recognise the danger of sins and always rush back to repentance 🤍
harith bin suwaid رضي الله عنه said: abdullah bin mas’ud رضي الله عنه said: « the believer sees his sins as if he was at the base of a mountain, fearing that it was about to fall upon him. the wicked person sees his sins as if (they are) flies that hitting his nose" he said: « like this » - motioning with his hand - «to get them to fly away.»

He (Muhammad ﷺ) is anxious over you (to be rightly guided, to repent to Allâh, and beg Him to pardon and forgive your sins in order that you may enter Paradise and be saved from the punishment of the Hell-fire); for the believers (he ﷺ is) full of pity, kind, and merciful
