virtuous deeds you could do this Friday
giving charity
- ‘ giving charity on a Friday compared to the rest of the days, I’d like giving charity in ramadan compared to the rest of the months’ ibn al qayyim
Salawat
- The Prophet (ﷺ) said: Among the most excellent of your days is Friday; on it Adam was created, on it he died, on it the last trumpet will be blown, and on it the shout will be made, so invoke more blessings on me that day, for your blessings will be submitted to me. The people asked: Messenger of Allah, how can it be that our blessings will be submitted to you while your body is decayed? He replied: Allah, the Exalted, has prohibited the earth from consuming the bodies of Prophets.
Sunan Abī Dāwūd 1047
making dua
- The Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned Friday and said: “On this day there is a time when no Muslim stands and prays, asking Allah for something, but Allah will grant him it” and he gestured with his hands to indicate how short that time is.
al-Bukhari, 893; Muslim, 852
* the second and more correct view according to the scholars is that this time is after asr and before maghrib because of the hadith of the prophet ﷺ when he was asked what time it is and he said after asr. *

reminder: the deeds you strive to do on fridays you should also do every day. it is wrong for us to specify making dua last hour of asr and neglect making dua in general every other day of the week. in your dua, ask Allah to make you firm and steadfast in worshipping Him, and one of the best duas you could say towards that are:
O turner of the hearts, keep my heart firm on your religion
and
O Allah aid me in remembering you, being grateful to you; and worshipping you in excellent manner.

I entered the room of the Messenger of Allah ʿalayhi al-salam while he was laying on his side over a mat. He drew up his lower garment as I sat down. He was not wearing anything else. The mat had left visible marks on his body. I looked at his cupboard and noticed a handful of barley, some mimosa leaves in the corner of the room, and a leather bag hung to the side.
My eyes began to swell with tears. The Prophet asked, "Why do you weep, Ibn al-Khaṭṭab?" I said, "Prophet of Allah, why should I not cry when this mat has left marks on your side, and the supply in your cupboard is scarce? Caesar and Khosrow are surrounded by rivers and fruits in abundance, while you, the Messenger of Allah and His chosen one, sits with this cupboard." The Prophet ʿalayhi al-salam said, "Ibn al-Khaṭṭab, are you not pleased that the Hereafter is ours and the world is theirs?"
— ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭab, Muslim no. 1479

‘and ask forgiveness for your fault’
[ ghafir: 55 ]
- meaning, ask from your Lord forgiveness for your sin, by taking the means to obtain forgiveness: from making dua for forgiveness, and sincere repentance, and doing good deeds that erase (your sins), and leaving off sins, and pardoning the creation and being good towards them — and from that is seeking forgiveness for them. And that is why Allah Said: ‘ and for the believing men and the believing women ‘
thus this is from the fruits of iman — because of their iman, it became their right upon every Muslim that they seek forgiveness for them.
[in this blessed day joyous day of jummuah, don’t forget to make sincere dua for yourself and others, the living and the dead. we are all in desperate need for the forgiveness of our Rabb, and it is only through His Mercy that we are forgiven and enter jannah. seize the blessed moments we are constantly gifted with.]

جُنَّة , jun-nah
بمعنى: ستر، meaning a cover/shield
the messenger of Allah ﷺ said:fasting is a shield
a shield from the temptations of this world, a shield from the harms of desires, a shield from our faults, a shield from the sins we keep returning to, a shield from the glitters of the worldly life.
Allah, from His Mercy has made it easy for us as well as mentioned
in the verse about
the fasting of Ramadan: Allah wants for you ease and does not want for you hardship. al-baqarah:185
{ benefit from the tafsir of imam si’di رحمه الله in which he said: Allah wants to make easy for us the roads that connect to His pleasure, the greatest facilitation 🤍 }
either fast regularly:
mondays and thursdays only
or, the three white days only
don’t want for winter to begin and the days to become shorter than they are already. it is already easy Alhamdulillah and if it’s difficult know that’s by the aid of Allah, it will get easy. patience in obeying Him is from the greatest of patience so let’s be patient, and strive towards goodness — no matter how rugged the path may be 🤍
don’t forget to fast tomorrow, if you can. May Allah grant us tawfeeq.

وممن ذكر ذلك البيهقي في «شعب الإيمان» وغيرُه، ورجَّحوا الوقوف على رؤوس الآي وإن تعلَّقت بما بعدها. losing yourself perhaps isn’t only an overwhelming experience of being unable to carry yourself out of bed and your hysterical emotions of anger and sadness leading you astray like we are all told
perhaps it is also losing fragments of yourself bit by bit to this world, to the point where you do not know when you were snatched, and when you started doubting the difference of the waswasa of shaytan and your own thoughts in prayer, when a insistent love for the world and its glitters that itches away at you started— buy the next thing, watch the next show, wear the best clothes, follow the next trend — a cycle that leaves us like hamsters on a wheel, busying ourself with this world, believing what satisfies us lays at the end of the wheel that never ends.
you can binge all the shows, you can eat at all the best restaurants, you can surround yourself with the people you love, you can buy all the best luxuries, and you will still not have something that lasts because materialism and a life following our desires is not a life where gratitude and servitude to Allah is at the core of our days and nights, it is not one connected to the Creator - Allah ﷻ
the messenger of Allah ﷺ said: the one among you who wakes up secure in his property, healthy in his body and has his food for the day, it is as if the whole world were brought to him.”
when coupled with acknowledging those blessings through shukr and hamd to Allah through worship, that is the true wealth and happiness. a path that has already been laid out for us through the Mercy of Allah. a happiness that doesn’t constrict your heart. joy in living your purpose. a life that is effortless, irregardless of the hardships along the way, your matter is always kheyr.
