The dean of prisoners, Muhammad al-Tous "Abu Shadi", is 67 years old.

He was arrested in 1985. He has entered his 40th consecutive year in the occupation's prisons.

Muhammad Al-Tous lost his wife, Umm Shadi, after she suffered a stroke in 2013, amid the pressures of anticipating news about the possibility of his release among the pre-Oslo prisoners, and the illness confined her to bed until her death in 2015.
