BDS VICTORY 🏆: 🇦🇺 NTEU Passes Motion for Institutional Academic Boycott of “Israel”

On October 5, the National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU), which represents workers in Australia's higher education sector—including academics, professional staff, and students—voted overwhelmingly in favor of supporting an institutional academic boycott of Israel.

This decision was reached during a meeting attended by over 100 delegates, marking a significant shift in solidarity with Palestinian rights.

Key demands from the motion include:

• Complete refusal of any academic and cultural cooperation with “Israeli” institutions.

• A comprehensive boycott of Israeli academic institutions.

• Advocacy for divestment from Israeli-linked academic bodies worldwide.

• Support for Palestinian academic institutions without requiring partnerships with Israeli counterparts.

The NTEU also called on Australian universities to conduct a nation-wide audit of their ties to the Israeli military and weapons suppliers.

The aim is to cut ties and promote scholarships for Palestinian students.

This momentous decision comes just before nationwide protests on October 6, marking a year of genocide against Palestinians, and reflects a growing international condemnation of Israeli policies.

The NTEU's actions represent a powerful stand against the genocidal oppressive Zionist regime.
