A senior US administration official has provided an update on the ongoing Gaza ceasefire negotiations, claiming that the agreement under discussion includes 18 clauses, with 14 already finalized and 90% of the terms agreed upon.

The deal encompasses various aspects such as humanitarian aid, prisoner exchange, and ceasefire arrangements. Specifically, it stipulates the daily entry of 600 aid trucks, including about 50 fuel trucks, which are clearly outlined and ready for implementation. This deal will proceed in a three-phase process.

Obstacles remain, including the Palestinian prisoners to be exchanged & the areas of Israeli withdrawal. Notably, nothing in the agreement mentions the Philadelphi Corridor, the dispute is whether that area counts as a densely populated one from which “Israel” would withdraw. The senior official emphasized that “Israel” and Hamas must make reasonable adjustments to secure a ceasefire deal, emphasizing that the absence of an agreement could increase security risks for “Israel".
