Martyrdom operations were carried out by decision of the Chief of Staff of the Qassam Brigades, Muhammad al-Deif, and planned by the captive leader Hassan Salama, in which 45 Zionists were killed and dozens were injured, in response to the assassination of the first engineer, Yahya Ayyash.


The captive leader Hassan Salama said: This is the biggest and most important event in my life as a mujahid, and my speech is on the occasion of our commemoration of these major operations that took place and shook the entity, and their echoes are still reverberating despite the passage of all these years.

Commander Abu Khaled provided an amount of 700 and gave it to Commander Hassan Salama to provide the necessary materials for the operations, which were supervised with him by Commander Adnan Al-Ghoul

Hassan and Adnan were the only ones who knew about these operations. After the funeral of the engineer, Abu Khaled returned and accompanied Hassan and they began planning together after they informed Adnan al-Ghoul of the details and waited until 40 days had passed since the martyrdom of the engineer until February 25 came and the Qassam Brigades carried out the first operation in which 28 settlers were killed
