How do Israeli army death announcements work?

They announce a fraction of deaths to the families, and if word gets out, the Israeli army officially announces the deaths that have already been leaked.

If several Israeli soldiers are killed in an ambush and one of them is a Druze with an Arabic name or an Ethiopian settler, they will announce only that death because it serves the Hasbara.

If the killed soldier is the son of an Israeli official, it is announced immediately to give the impression to the rest of the settlers that even their leadership is suffering with them. This is part of the internal Hasbara.

They also announce some deaths to the families only, instructing them not to publish anything on social media for the “greater national” cause. If the word gets out, the Israeli army officially announces it afterward.

If the dead is a mercenary who traveled to fight for the promised land or promised dollars, they don't get announced.
