Sad Thursday

After 8 years of pursuit and mystery behind which Mohammed Al-Daif disappeared, he was arrested with the same mystery and calm.

The end of this fighter's pursuit and the way he was arrested was unexpected in this way.

At approximately 10:30 pm on Thursday, May 11, 2000, Preventive Security forces surrounded the home of Hajj Abu Imad Sarsour in the Sabra neighborhood in Gaza City. The residents of the house did not know what was happening except that the doorbell rang

The visitor was the prisoner of the authority, the Mujahid Yahya al-Ghoul (Adnan al-Ghoul), who was the only one who knew where Muhammad al-Deif was and who used to visit the house with the Mujahid Muhammad al-Sinwar, asking to meet Abu Khaled. After he agreed, they entered and talked to him for 10 minutes, and no one knew what had happened between them

Abu Emad says that despite Muhammad al-Deif’s extreme calm, it was clear that he was angry, but nothing could shake him from his wisdom. His colleagues advanced towards the door, and he was with them. In the front was Emad Sarsour, who did not know until the Preventive Security personnel put their hands on his mouth and eyes and held him aside, then surrounded the three mujahideen and disappeared.

Arrest is a crime

Sources reported that Yahya al-Ghoul and Mohammed Sinwar set conditions for their release, the first of which was a pledge not to hand him over to the occupation, not to humiliate him, and to treat him well, befitting his status. This was agreed to by the leaders of the Preventive Security Forces. When they spoke with Mohammed al-Deif, he asked them to set another condition, which was not to touch the house in which he and his companions were hiding.

Muhammad al-Daif left the house and found hundreds of heavily armed members of the Preventive Security Service. He looked at them sadly and said,

“I wish the Jews would come to arrest me so that the Palestinian people could see their remains flying all over the place. But now that you have come, we will keep our promise and will not harm any Palestinian.”

Mohammed Al-Daif was always carrying his personal pistol and M-16 rifle, as well as a special, closed bag that no one was allowed to approach. It was believed that it contained additional explosives for an explosive belt wrapped around his body. This was what the authorities feared, and they threatened the owners of the house not to talk.
