A new poll finds that Americans support a permanent ceasefire, despite this, only 4% of elected officials support even a temporary ceasefire and the US continues to veto UN resolutions working towards ending the violence.
Walter Hixson, a US foreign relations historian, told MintPress News:
Unfettered support for Israel and the lobby consistently puts the United States at odds with international human rights organizations and the vast majority of nations over Israel’s war crimes and blatant violations of international law. The current U.N. vote on a ceasefire in Gaza [which the US vetoed] is just the latest example.”
The US remains the largest backer of Israel and a large part is undoubtedly because of the pro-Israel lobby which showers politicians with millions of dollars in contributions. An investigation shows politicians who have received the most pro-Israel cash.

He has also used his influence to push through military aid packages to Israel amid the ongoing genocide.
