🔴 US Vice President Kamala Harris has raised a record amount of $81 million from Democratic Party donors in the 24 hours since President Joe Biden stepped down from the White House race and offered his endorsement, her campaign said.

The campaign claimed the haul was the largest one-day sum raised in presidential history — and that, among the 888,000 grassroots donors, some 60 percent were making their first contribution of the year.

With Biden’s endorsement, Harris’ campaign also appears to have inherited an additional $96 million — the amount left in the bank that Biden’s team had previously raised.

Harris also secured the broad support needed to become the Democratic Party’s nominee for the upcoming presidential election.

According to an Associated Press tally, Harris had 2,214 delegates by the night of July 22, well beyond the simple majority needed to clinch the nomination on the first ballot.
