The Center for International Humanitarian Law in Libya monitors the conditions of Sudanese refugees who entered Libya through the Kufra region. In this regard, the ambulance and emergency team went out on Wednesday night, 7/17/2024, to the Al-Owainat crossing, which is 350 km south of the city of Kufra, towards the Libyan-Sudanese border.

The team provided initial assistance to a number of Sudanese refugees who were involved in a traffic accident and sustained light and moderate injuries. Six cases were transferred to the Martyr Atiya Al-Kaseh Teaching Hospital in Kufra for examinations and treatment, where more than 40 people were at the site and their condition was good.

The number of Sudanese refugees increased after the expansion of the circle of armed conflict in Sudan, as violent clashes occurred in the city of El Fasher in the Darfur region adjacent to the Libyan border. According to an official in the registration system in Kufra, more than 1,000 to 1,200 Sudanese refugees are registered daily.
