The former head of the "Israeli National Security Council" said that the October 7 operation shattered Israeli deterrence and that "Israel" must reclaim it and "bring about a fundamental change in its security reality."

In an interview for the Israeli newspaper Maariv, Meir Ben-Shabbat said that "after October 7, Israel cannot suffice with reassuring promises."

He warned that "[Israel's] geographical proximity to Ha-ma-s does not allow for unnecessary risks at the present time, and the current circumstances are unlike America's wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, which were thousands of miles away."

According to the top security official, the United States is pushing the occupation entity toward an agreed-upon plan to enhance its image regarding its role in the Middle East, launching slogans like: "We prevented a regional war" or: "We put an end to the Arab-Israeli conflict."
