⚠️ BREAKING: Israel’s Port of Eilat declared BANKRUPT

Israel's southern Port of Eilat has requested financial aid from the government due to its inactivity since the start of the country's war on Palestine's Gaza.

"The port has been non-operational for eight months due to attacks, meaning it has no revenue," Gideon Golber, CEO of the Port of Eilat, said during a meeting with the Knesset's Economic Affairs Committee.

Ships bound for Eilat have been unable to access the Red Sea due to threats from Yemen's Houthi movement, which has vowed to target Israel-linked vessels in support of Palestinians in Gaza.

In December, Golber reported an 85 percent decline in operations since the Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF) began attacks on ships in the Red Sea.

In March, the port's management announced its intention to lay off half of its 120 employees due to the decline in operation levels.
