Today we remember Muhammad Ali, born on this day 17th of January 1947

In 1985, Ali travelled to Israel in an attempt to secure the release of Lebanese and Palestinian prisoners imprisoned in occupied Southern Lebanon. This followed on his visits to Palestinian refugee camps in 1974, when he declared in Beirut that “the United States is the stronghold of Zionism and imperialism.” While visiting Palestinian refugee camps in South Lebanon, he declared “In my name and the name of all Muslims in America, I declare support for the Palestinian struggle to liberate their homeland and oust the Zionist invaders.”

🔺UK Foreign Minister and a former Prime Minister, David Cameron who sent troops to occupy Iraq and Syria as Prime Minister shared on his X on Tuesday :

"The UK condemns the Iranian regime’s attacks in Erbil last night.

These unprovoked and unjustified actions are an unacceptable violation of Iraq’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

🔺 Pakistan has recalled its ambassador from Iran after Iran launched airstrikes on Pakistan's territory, apparently aimed at a militant group.

Pakistan's foreign minister said that 2 children were killed and 3 others were injured in what it called "an illegal" airstrike and "unprovoked" violation of its airspace

🔺 The oil giant ARAMCO's CEO Amin Nasser said to reuters while in Davos that global oil markets will cope with the Red Sea disruptions in the short run, but will eventually lead to a shortage of tankers due to longer voyages and a supply delay.

Attacks by Houthis on ships in the Red Sea has forced many companies to divert cargoes around Africa.

Interestingly the houthis had banned only ships bound for ports in 'Israel' and recently US and UK ships from the Red Sea after the later two launched airstrikes against Yemen
