One of the soldiers told the publication that he finally decided to leave the ranks of the US Army after the death of a six-year-old girl in Gaza under IDF fire. Larry Helbert admitted that the little girl reminded him of his own daughter, so he "can't support what's going on".

Pilot Juan Bettancourt said he sees "the killing of thousands of innocent civilians" by US weapons. What strikes him most is how these "atrocities" are described in diplomatic material and media memos.

In an interview with the publication, both soldiers described Israel's attack on Gaza as "genocide" and said the images coming out of the region affected not only them but many Americans.
